Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Post-release)

The Resistance landing craft. First off, one of the most boring SW ship designs ever.

But check out one of its guns in the foreground of this shot:

Really? A giant E-11 barrel? That's one of the laziest pieces of design work ever. Don't you dare call it an easter egg.

Lord, that's pretty bad. I never would have noticed that if you hadn't pointed it out. It's actually pretty ridiculous. Lol.

My steelbook copy just arrived. Yay!

Harmy be praised.

Well of course we know that it was inevitable that anytime there is something positive in the air about TFA, the minions must come out and prop up their overused "objections" just so that their meek voices will not be all but forgotten by us as we enjoy more and more about a film that we all choose to love while they do not.

So yeah... haters gonna hate.

And TFA lovers gonna love.

I think instead of posting the usual same comments over & over again would it not be easier just for them to put "I hated The Force Awakens,....it's not what I wanted it to be,....I have better ideas than what they did.....I think Rey is a Mary Sue" as their sig

I'm currently on a cruise in the Caribbean. Last night they had a showing of TFA on the top deck. It was the third tine i saw it. Although it was great to sit out like that, my original review still stands. There are parts of it that i love, but overall, It was a messy fan film.

I think the one part of this that I find annoying is the reliance on subsequent source material to enhance your enjoyment of the film. As much as I love star wars, I do believe that the movies should stand on their own. We shouldn't need to read novels and comic books to help us flesh out the political situation.

I don't need everything spelled out to me in movies but this movie was pretty convoluted in it's storytelling.

When maz teases us with "THAT is a story for another time", that means that we need to come back to it in a film. It shouldn't be glossed over later and we shouldn't have to buy a comic to find out the story

This. It's like you borrowed my brain to write this.

They can also add "I'll never be happy with any Star Wars film ever again because George Lucas raped my life and now I'm bitter and jaded forever" to the sig. It's amazing how some people love to talk about how much they dislike Star Wars. I didn't like any of the Harry Potter movies and I've never once gone into a Harry Potter discussion forum to tell people there over and over how much I didn't like those films. I guess it wouldn't be the internet if there wasn't b!tching about SW going on somewhere.

The pilots have radio communication with each other while still in hyperspace. This has never been shown to be possible before, and in fact was a thing EU writers were told was not possible.

EU no longer exists in canon, so what the writers were told doesn't matter.

Besides, not being able to communicate AT ALL while on the move is ridiculous. Highly advanced military craft should have comms abilities at all times, barring localized phenomena. Saying they can't is as stupid as saying that modern aircraft can't communicate while over the ocean. Even modern 18 wheelers have had CB radio to communicate for the last seventy years. The simple fact is that hyperspace travel has been around for a LONG time, way longer than the 50-60 years spanning Episode I to Episode VII (you'd HAVE to have it available for everyone from military down to the space-truckers and family vacationers, otherwise there's no way they'd be able to sustain a galactic-scale civilization). If they didn't have a way to communicate, there'd be no way to warn anyone about bad things or potential hazards in transit.

Frankly, I'm glad they tossed that particular piece of rubbish out.

I have no qualms about tossing out EU. But that rule did make sense. You're like in another dimention or something, all your own. Everyone is in a different tube.

Yours is a good argument for WANTING such communication capabilities, but if hyperspace prevents it, then hyperspace prevents it, and they'd have to deal. Our own Earthly seafarers managed without communication for thousands of years.

And not making things too easy makes for more storytelling possibilities.

But honestly, I doubt they even realized they were breaking new ground here. And true, just because we never saw it done doensn't mean it couldn't be done.

Just pointing out stuff; I like the film.

The fact is, having a "rule" like communications not working in hyperspace is a great plot device. I've always said that limitations inspire creativity
