STAR WARS Rebels new animated series!

Last night I set up my DVR to record the series and it showed four episodes were already available. I went to watch and they turned out to just be the three and four minute teaser clips I already saw from here.

It became available only on the Watch DisneyXD Ap this evening. I just watched it as the Ap is on Apple TV. It was amazing. I am just so excited for this series and it DELIVERED. I sat with my 18 month old son watching it and it is a memory I will have forever. You guys and gals are in for a treat, this show is terrific. It premiers next weekend on the XD cable site. DO NOT MISS THIS.

I watched a little late this morning. It was not on Apple TV at the time but it was on the iPad XD app so I air played it to Apple tv. I am waiting to watch the entire thing with my kids but we won't all have free time together until tomorrow afternoon,

Totally loved it. My only concern is that because of the premise, it might run out of steam. The great thing about the clone wars is that it never played like a "team adventure show". It was able to branch out with so many different storytelling options

Because this is a team of good guys vs. Bad guys, it might have a harder time evolving into deeper waters

My last post got me thinking. You know the really great thing about the clone wars? Depending on the episode, any character could be the protagonist. It could be ashoka, anakin, ventress, boba fett, or even dooku. The story perspective was incredibly flexible

I saw it on the big screen at a Disney event two hours ago, but in another language. Overall I think it was good. Very much action. Maybe a bit too fast-paced, like the Clone Wars.

There were a few times when I think the heroes were able to too easily get away with doing stuff. With the Clone Wars, you could explain such things away imply by saying "They are Jedi", but not here.
I liked the bantering between characters. There was lots of Stormtrooper humour - they are not too difficult to fool, and if you are big you could knock them over... And (of course) they don't seem aim very well in this TV series either.

I'd bet that the Mandalorian girl is going to be popular for cosplaying. I think the Imperial Officers' uniforms could have been made closer to the movie cut - it would be so unnecessary for the 501st Legion to make a new costume category for "Animated Officers" like they did with "Animated Clones".
TIE Fighter pilots are arrogant human officers with a new style of cowl under the helmet (which I want to sew now...).

I watched Rebels (which I found on an ... ehm ... Bothan Spy website) today and I must say I absolutely loved it! It's just what I've hoped for and I can't wait to see where to story goes from there. Fabulous!

I watched it again tonight. I really liked the Jedi. We've never seen that kind of Jedi before and I like it.

The beast character reminds me a lot of Jayne from firefly. In a way, the whole thing kinda reminds me of firefly.....which is a very good thing

Watched it also. It really brought out the old school energized and action packed Star Wars back. Really love the character interaction too. Absolutely loved the whole thing really. Didn't let me down at all and also can't wait to see where it goes. Oh and my son was watching with me and the grin and excitement on his face made me feel the way I did back in the 80's. :)

I don't think that will be an issue. War is never simple. There are always issues with resources and politics. Although places like Lothal know the reality of the Empire, I would have to believe that mere of the Core worlds still believe that Palpatine's Empire is still a good thing. They probably try to hide any rebel activity from the public as much as possible and when not possible, they spin it into acts of terrorism. Contiuing with their rebellious activities is going to now be lot harder. They will need to get support and in the future form into an alliance with others like themselves. That's not going to be an easy task and is not going to happen right away. I could easily see episodes which follow a story of someone outside the main cast... people we have not seen yet. Maybe episodes that center on Madine, Ackbar, Organa, etc.. or even rebels we have yet heard of.

I checked out the audio version of "A New Dawn". Its going kind of slow but I found out some interesting background info such as Kanan's real name is Caleb Dume. He was 14 when the Empire came to power and he was about to be apprenticed but did not happen as a result of Order 66.

My theory of the ease of defeating Stormtroopers is that they probably lived off the reputation of what the clone troopers established years prior. I would further speculate that the Emperor felt that he could save resources and no longer fund clones and take volunteers instead. He probably did not care that they would lack sufficient training and skills as he felt fear and mass numbers would take care of whatever trouble came up. So when rebels came along and challenged the Imperial forces, they were ill prepared.

Good analysis there! Also the emperor made a critical error by not stationing millions of stormtroopers on Endor in RotJ. ;)

Why is it that when the bad guy's back is turned, the good guy always lets out a battle cry before they go in for the kill, thereby announcing their intentions and giving the bad guy time to react?

DISNEY XD ORDERS SECOND SEASON OF STAR WARS REBELS AHEAD OF TELEVISION PREMIERE

One day ahead of a highly-anticipated television premiere, Disney Channels Worldwide President and Chief Creative Officer Gary Marsh announced plans to produce a second season of the animated series Star Wars Rebels from Lucasfilm.
Marsh said, “The global expectations for this series could not have been any higher. And I am proud to say that the team at Lucasfilm has delivered something that has surpassed even that incredibly high bar – artistically and thematically.”
Star Wars Rebels has received acclaim from critics and fans alike since its advance debut screening at San Diego Comic-Con in July, followed by special previews this week on WATCH Disney XD and other digital platforms. Star Wars Rebels will be introduced via a television movie, Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion, premiering Friday, October 3 (9:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel in the U.S. and Monday, October 6 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney XD in the U.S. It ushers in the series beginning Monday, October 13 (9:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney XD in the U.S. The series will air in 34 languages across 163 countries in over 400 million households.
“We all love making ‘Rebels,’ so we couldn’t be happier that it’s moving into a second season,” says Lucasfilm VP of Creative Development, Kiri Hart. “Our fantastic creative team is dreaming up new stories for the crew of the Ghost that will expand their experience of the galaxy and deepen their heroes’ journeys. The fan response to the show has been amazing, humbling and inspiring. We’re looking forward to the adventure ahead.”
The creative team behind the second season of Star Wars Rebels includes Executive Producers Simon Kinberg and Dave Filoni, and Co-Executive Producer and Supervising Writer Henry Gilroy.
Star Wars Rebels continues the epic story-telling tradition that has captivated generations of Star Wars fans since 1977. Its story is set in the era between the film’s prequel trilogy and original trilogy and is in a unique position to bridge the two both aesthetically and generationally. Honoring the past while moving boldly into the future, it features fantastic icons from Star Wars while introducing a new generation to the far corners of the galaxy, one full of exotic new creatures and characters.
…scads of action, beautiful animation and fidelity to the original’s spirit.” – Variety
“…a rich color palette…reminiscent of the work of Hayao Miyazaki, the Japanese animé master.” – The New York Times
“Rebels’ does a great job of capturing a true ‘adventure’ feel.” – IGN
I’ve seen the premiere of the show and can attest completely to the vibe hearkening back to the original film. It somehow takes the coolest elements you’d expect from the dark time, with Jedi on the run and a truly evil Imperial presence, and matches it with the comedic tone of adventure of the original Star Wars film.”– Huffington Post
