STAR WARS Rebels new animated series!

BTW: As mentioned above, I'm listening to the audio version of "A New Dawn". It would seem that female Stormtroopers are now canon. I wonder if we will see any in the series.

loved it. This is the first thing I've watched that actually felt like Star Wars, and not something vaguely distantly related.

The dialogue was terrible, but that's tradition by now. The action was fun, the design was great. I liked the way they handled the Jedi, which I thought I'd hate. The comedy relief of the stormtroopers was actually pretty funny. I'm hooked. Hope they can keep it going, cause a ten year old inside me is jumping off the walls knowing there's going to be weekly installments of this.

the wookies looked terrible. Everyone looked like aladin. but other than that, I'm glad the animation for the vehicles and some characters look a bit more movie like and less clone wars like....I'll give this series a chance, even though it's clearly aimed more to kids than clone wars was sadly.

I just don't see it that way at all. I loved Clone Wars and besides a stylistic different choice for the animation this show's gravitas and quality is no different.

Depending on how much of the former EU and accompanying reference books retain any canon status... The Essential Guide to Warfare had a sidebar about this very thing. There are worlds in the Empire that are matriarchal or otherwise female-dominated, and the notion that strong, competent warriors couldn't try out to be stormtroopers just because of their chromosomes was silly. The gist of the sidebar, from the journal of a female stormtrooper, was that if you made it through the training, it didn't matter where you were from, how tall you were, what color your skin was, or what sex you were -- you were a stormtrooper first, and that's all your battle-bretheren cared about. The armor was universal -- no way to tell gender at a glance.

I have watched rebels with my 7 years old son and we really enjoyed it :)

Really better than clone wars.
Ok even If the wookies design are not good and also some other things... overall the story is interesting.
There are a lot of similar things like in the OT.
And to know that some of the design we can see will be in episode 7 is a good new.
A very nice introduction to the next movie.

It was decent... Not the greatest ever. A little "kidsy" for my taste. And yeah, those wookiees were horrible. Couldn't they have just reused and tweaked the Chewbacca design from The Clone Wars?

I went in with an open mind and tried not to compare animation styles with cw. I really liked it and didn't find it a cross between star wars and a Disney princess movie at all. This is really going to be a great show imho.

I'm with you. Maybe because I went in with no expectations, but I really liked it. Didn't seem overly kiddie to me, but just enough that I know i'll be able to get my sister to let her kids watch :)

I'm still waiting for someone to go on an anti-jedi rant :)

Maybe the animation will improve as the years go by like Clone Wars did. Not an issue with me, I would watch the show even if it was done in droids/Ewok style. But yes... Those wookiees need work. I watched the next episode and R2 looks really good.

I believe my biggest, unexpected surprise, was the 'FIREFLY' feel I got from the show. I can really foresee all areas of the Ghost being explored, with individual areas really screaming character traits for the crew.

I share most of the positive feelings folks have on here, but this is all I haven't seen mentioned.
