STAR WARS Rebels new animated series!

The description of Chopper being cranky makes me nervous. Are they going to tell us he is voiced by Dennis Franz?
LOL! or by Kurtwood Smith (Red Forman!) nRM5KJdWytLi53oq.png

you can hear his deeper sounding grunts and chirps in the videos... it sounds a bit more like a gonk droid... I think he is just going to be spunkier and have more attitude than R2.. feisty little one!

Just FYI the Full RC "Chopper" droid used at the toy fair was built for a major Lucasfilm employee (of which will be revealed soon) as a personal commission and loaned for use at the Nuremberg Toy Fair 2014 lego toys reveal. It was Built by a couple of USA R2 Builders club members! (more info soon!)
I do know of one builder that had a hand in it in particular but we are waiting for the one true builder that was fully responsible for the build to come forward with the details.... probably waiting for his NDA to come fully to its end. He has all the dims and specs and some molds and took 2 months to build. supposedly some build photos coming from him as well... its entirely possible however that the builder's club may not be able to build anything until after Rebels is out on Disney XD ... being its lucasfilm/DISNEY intellectual property the R2 builder's club may have its work cut out for it even though full specs and dim files were sent to the original builder.. he may not have permission to offer them or post them.

very cool info and premise! I like the sound of imperial recruits switching sides... kind of reminiscent of Biggs early deleted scenes telling Luke that he was going to jump ship and join the secret rebellion... so that's a great theme on which to show the rebellion building its followers.

I think the question will arise about Luke, is he... Better than Ezra.

See what I did there? :p

Come on. it was going to happen sooner or later.

Geez, I'm old. :darnkids

SNL Weekend Update did a joke on that and said "And in music news, number one on the college charts this summer was 'Better than Ezra'. And at number two: 'Ezra'." :D

Does the Disney Channel typically show their shows online after they're first aired? I know the SW site streamed TCW. I don't have TV. Usually I don't miss it, but...

Let's clarify just so there is no confusion; Disney Channel (where the movie and shorts will air) and Disney XD (were the series will air) are two different channels and two different web sites. In both cases, if you check the websites, you can find full episodes of shows. However, I do not know if they will limit the amount of time or number of episodes. Of course, just because they do it with some shows does not mean they will do it with Rebels. Additionally, there are some channel websites/apps that make you log in via your cable company. Basically, if you are not paying to see it, you can't see it mobile.

Hopefully there will be no issues and even be able to find the episodes on StarWars.com.

The face reminds me of a standard Disney male. It's much too Disney for my tastes. I wish they'd kept more visual continuity with TCW.

......Cowboy Jedi? Really? That's...not particularly encouraging. I mean, maybe it'll work, but it strikes me as kinda "forced." Oh well. At least we know he dies in the end.

No offense to anyone but I don't think its fair to blame Disney for things they do not like. This was the same feeling I had when people used to rag on Lucas. Why are people or companies that do their job well and become very successful automatically deemed an evil empire?

I admit, I have no insights to the inner workings of the Disney/LFL working relationship. But if you buy LFL (not just the Star Wars) then you are also getting the experts that know Star Wars as well. The smart thing to do is listen to them about creativity and stories. From what I am reading, the biggest involvement just seems to be production/release schedules and how to market their product.

Even if they were micromanaging, I think the continued success of Disney's direct productions like Frozen or their Pixar and Marvel divisions should make people happy that Disney is involved. Since 1977, their have only been 6 Star Wars movies. That's insane! Hell, we wouldn't even have the whole EU debate if LFL kept producing movies (or even TV shows) that kept the stories of the Star Wars galaxy going rather than a bunch of authors that write SW books as if they were Trek technobabble.

As far as the look of the show, I think it is still a continuation of the TCW look just the next level of refinement. Even the CGI in TCW refined over the seasons.
