I assume you're looking for more of a reason than $$? That's probably it though.
The majority of SW games that featured Vader in any way occurred way before top games got up to the insane budgets of top films like it is today. Likely just couldn't afford it. I mean, how much you think he got to reprise the voice for ROTS? Couldn't have been more than 2 hours in a recording booth. Wouldn't suprise me if he walked away with well over 6 figures for it.

Yeah, I mean, consider that, back in the early 90s, digitized speech was itself kind of a novelty, and it took until the mid-90s until 16-bit and 32-bit sound cards were the norm. X-wing came out in 1993, and they just used soundalikes for everyone (which typically didn't sound all that much like the actors but were more "reminiscent" of them). Full motion video was "hot" in the mid-90s, then giving way to 3D graphics and such.
Even into the early 2000s, games still didn't have the kind of budgets that they do today, and LucasArts, despite its fondest hopes and dreams, was never on the level of, say, an Activision or an EA, even in comparison to those companies at back then, when they had a lot more competition from other publishers like Acclaim, Accolade, Origin (before EA bought it), Broderbund, SSI, Sierra, etc. Back then, you'd see the occasional well-known actor doing VO work, like Michael Dorn doing some sci-fi adventure game in the early 90s, or Tim Curry doing the first Gabriel Knight game, but it was still a rarity. And remember, Mark Hamill and Malcolm McDowell did Wing Commander 3 at low points in their careers.
It isn't until the late 2000s/early 2010s that games like Call of Duty and Battlefield and Halo and such start getting truly astronomical budgets where hiring voice talent like James Earl Jones might be possible.

While it is charming to have an actual actor return to do a animation voice of the same character they portrayed, I do not really care one way or the other. There are a lot of talented voice actors out there who do great work.

if you watch the video you will hear them discuss that "not one part on him is original" ... he's all spare parts! So I'm guessing his name is chopper because he is a "chop shop" droid built from spare parts... so he's short... judge him by his size do you?
R5-D4 was taller than R2... so in a way we could ask why is R2 so short in New Hope!

Ok, so now that we saw an official preview of these sets, I'm convinced they are real. Anyone else a little disappointed with the look?
Um No! this is a pre New Hope World Leia is 15 ish giving this show 3 yrs of life pre a new hope. after that it`s all cannon gee so 15 3 yrs all of a sudden you have 3 yrs to introduce and then remove all new characters from the show as well you have 3 seasons from start to end of series.
Inquisitor does not exsist I could give a flying **** what Disney thinks wants or decides selling the franchise to Disney was the biggest mistake in the history of Movie franchises.
R.I.P Darth Bane Grand Admiral Thrawn Mara Jade Jacen Jaina Anakin Solo Ben Skywalker as well as Hundreds of great characters and adventures brought to life through the writing of dozens of great writers. R.i.p to all the novels sitting in limbo. RIp to the clone wars rip to detours rip to 1313 as well as the other 2-3 games that got shelved so a crappy electronics arts and Bioware deal could be made considering they ruined The Old Republic.
Epiosde 7 better be better than episode 4 or im done with anything post 2014!

I think some character/ concepts of the EU will survive in some way. But honestly, I feel about 95% of the EU sucks so much, I would gladly toss out the other 5% just to be rid of the bulk of the rubbish. And this is coming from a man who named his daughter Mara Jade.

well, I intend to just enjoy it for what it is.. a cartoon show. Just have fun with it and don't take it so seriously. we still have the movies.. just like I ignore the EU stuff except the clone wars cartoon and now Rebels, you can just ignore and not pay attention to rebels. its more star wars.. its more sci-fi, its more robots and shooting stormtroopers.. its not anything to get upset or angry about. its just a fun star wars themed cartoon! :lol
