STAR WARS Rebels new animated series!

Yeah, I mean The Force Unleashed was considered to be a canonical story up until the announcement of the new films and it has been given the boot, but people were ok with an apprentice in that case.

hear, hear!
I too am of the camp that I would rather see Vader in action but I think this new character will be fun and interesting... Rebels should be around for a long long time so we will have plenty of Sith action/ apprentice back stabbing, and Dark Side mistrust to revel in none the less.

And thank god. I didn't play the games but I did read the books, and while the story itself was good, imo, Starkiller was way too powerful. Pulling a Star Destroyer out of the sky? Come on! I mean the Jedi were powerful in the PT, but at least they weren't portrayed as godly.

I'll probably get reamed for that last comment.

That would take the magic out of Star Wars anyway, with such a power you wouldn't need an army of clones or stormies now would you?Just have them fly all over the place. You could pluck every starfighter out of the Sky in a snap.I mean the games were great , Darth Vader was in there, but putting them in the continuity of the movie stories...just silly.Though I think Sam Witwer would make a great character in the new movies.

Love how in one hand they declared war on the eu and cannon in the other they intend to profit from Timothy Zahn's Mara Jade.

I`ll watch the second episode in no way do I wish to see the crossover of Phineaus and Ferb in the series premier.

All in all Lucas Sold the franchise to the dark side, First they attacked the clone wars then it was detours then it was the video games then the comics and now the novel time line.

Personally I hope JJ can change my mind on the future of the franchise this has been my one and only love since 1977 as far as film goes everything else pales in comparison, I love Darth Bane Grand Admiral Thrawn and a lot of the other new characters created in the expanded universe. I think Cad Bane should live on and have more stories in the future. a lot of the reason star wars has remained popular and gained new fans is due to the expanded universe.

Either way I own a majority of the novels in hard copy and the rest in eBook form Disney can try to do away with it but it exists.. :) kind of ticked several new novels are now in limbo.

I think going forward, the new creative team have an opportunity to pull back from the indulgences of the PT era stuff and likely will take advantage of that especially considering this is a post ROTJ world. I think Rebels will reflect that.

where are people getting this Phineaus and Ferb crossover stuff from?:confused :wacko

Its only an episode of Phineaus and Ferb that are doing their own Star Wars related episode in their own show "A special Star Wars-themed episode of the musical-comedy series" IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH "REBELS"! Its just a Phineaus and Ferb special cartoon.
I guarantee you will NOT see Phineaus and Ferb in the series premier of Rebels!

Phineas and Ferb: Star Wars is a one-hour special episode of theDisney Animation television series Phineas and Ferb that will air in summer 2014 on Disney Channel and Disney XD. The Star Wars-themed crossover was first announced at the annual San Diego Comic-Con International on July 19, 2013. Dan Povenmire, one of the show's creators, first hinted at the crossover during an interview with TVGuide.com about the show's upcoming crossover with Marvel Comics, as he indicated that he had the Star Wars-themed episode in mind since Lucasfilm Ltd.'s acquisition by Disney in 2012. Robert Hughes confirmed that there would be at least five songs in the special.
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away in summer, Phineas and Ferb are living happily on Tatooine, just one moisture farm over from Luke Skywalker. They find themselves thrust into a global rebellion when the plans for blowing up the Death Star accidentally fall into their hands. Now that fate has suddenly pulled them into the fight for freedom, they must go in search of a pilot who can take them to the Rebels so they can hand over the plans. Complicating matters, Candace — the boys’ sister — has a Stormtrooper-like intent on “busting rebels” who chase Phineas and Ferb across the galaxy in hopes of retrieving the Death Star plans.
Meanwhile, back on the Death Star, Dr. Darth Enshmirtz, a low level Darth, has created a Force-powered “Sith-inator” that he plans to use against the Rebel Alliance. Agent P, working undercover for the Rebellion, is dispatched to stop him, but quickly gets trapped in carbonite. Then, things take a startling turn when Ferb is accidentally hit by the full blast of Dr. Darth Enshmirtz’s “inator” and becomes an evil Sith.

Curious as this is the most vacated time period of the EU.

That's because they were forbidden from writing in that era.

Zahn had to get special permission for his trilogy to have the scene with the old republic jedi crashing during the clone wars as anything pre-ANH was off limits.

Right, it was off limits, so to suggest it would tap into the EU is curious as there is none.

Most likely I take it that they are going to show EU characters earlier in their lives. For example, if Disney/LFL determine that Thrawn, Mara, Bel Iblis are characters they want to include in the canon (even if they do not approve of all or some of the existing stories they are involved in) you may see them in the show.

Please note, I am not saying I think they will be or even that I would like to see that, just trying to show an example of what they might be talking about.

I believe they are real but only concept box art. I've seen this done in the past. Not sure if it is because final design is not of parts are finished and/or they are ensuring to keep as much of the characters under wrap.

if these are real, you can also see The Ghost and where the images came from here:

also, you can see the same image peaking through on the catalog:

I'm excited for this just because I really enjoyed clone wars and this is a place that we really haven't visited as fans. I read the book to the Force Unleashed and really enjoyed it and the first game (the second game not so much). I think it would be cool to really see how the Emperor and Vader interact during this time frame.
