Star Wars: questions you've always wanted answers for

With Obi-Wan's line, I figure that people may have noticed a giant light coming toward them, or something and been afraid.

without coming off even dumber than normal....I'm assuming it's a young frankenstein ref. I've never seen that movie... you may groan now if I still don't geti t ;o)...
Yes, it is. When Frankenstein's first attempt to reanimate the monster is less than successful, he says, "If science teaches us anything, it teaches us to accept our failures, as well as our successes, with quiet dignity and grace." Then, after a pregnant pause, he verbally and physically assaults the body as if it was the monster's fault.

And, yes, you should see the movie. :D

ahh, thank you. I will now institute polite William Shatner esque laughter. ah ha...ah ha ha ha...ah hahaha ha...ha.

And here I thought it was someone being a fellow grump in post three of the thread ;o)

It is. I didn't even catch that people might've thought it was a reference to Young Frankenstein (possibly Mel Brooks' best directed film along with Twelve Chairs and The Producers). I guess even more simply, in a thread titled "questions you always wanted answers for", my question was "why can't we let Star Wars die?"

Though, I guess it being seen as a joke from Young Frankenstein, I think the answer is obvious.:p

for the same reason we can't let other franchises die. new ideas arn't given a chance, or get messed up way too easily and squander their potential.

Sliders and Sleepy Hollow, prime examples.
Young Justice, another example.

all newer ideas, not given a chance, or controlled into the ground.

actually I didn't think you were intentionally referencing Young Frankenstein.
I was just introducing the reference with the gif.

here is a semi related question. if Spaceballs 2: the search for more money really does happen as rumored...do you think they'll have enough material to work with in ep 7?

;o)

guys, i just watched ROTJ on bluray for the first time with my girlfriend. she has now seen 4,5,6 and 7. i just noticed... is that harrison ford in the AT-ST saying "its over commander, the rebels are defeated and retreating into the forest, send more troops for back up" or something like that?

When Han and Luke come out of the Trash compactor they change back into their original clothing including footwear, Where were they keeping said clothing whilst in the armour?

Solo tells Chewy to 'Get down here- she's injured'. Then, 'Wait, I have an idea.' Then he requests the troops with the comlink covering his face- like a disguise- to trick the Imperials.

That was his idea. Ye Olde Switcheroo.

And the clothes?

In Chewie's bag. It's like my wife's purse- amazing what will fit in there.

i never knew that until last night!! i dont have a bluray player but got a new 48" led tv for xmas. i always had a 28" tube tv... believe it or not lol. anyway my girlfriend had her big screen LED tv way before me, and she also had a bluray player. i bought the star wars TO on bluray awhile ago but never had time to watch them. i think ANH and ESB came out beautifully on bluray, but RoTJ is screwy when it comes to the forest, its like they forgot to color the greens... and in jabba's place the aliens are all colorful but the back ground almost gets washed out in grey...

i knew han said he had an idea, but i figured he had a at-st driver hostage, or a rebel trooper put the helmet on, i could hear ford's voice say the line in the at-st and thats when i had to rewind it couple times to check out his face

also never noticed how many times dengar is on screen! also saw boba fett couple more times in the back ground. its amazing how many different things my eyes caught on to. just like han in the AT-ST, i can't believe after my whole life of watching these films i never noticed that!

I think that's the most amazing things about these movies- I've been watching them since 1977. And watching them a lot and very closely- and I still see things I've never seen before.

It's just so great that after so many viewings, there are still new things to see.

One thing I noticed about jedi is that when the rebels are standing outside the bunker after being captured, there's a trooper without his helmet on.

As Han, Leia, Chewie & co enter the bunker & the door closes you see the Rebel soldier dressed as the Scout step into position fixing his helmet

They could do some revisionist history to say that I suppose, but Rex flat out didn't exist at all at the time they shot ROTJ, so it was not him by intent.
