I recall in Legends that Vader would try and see if and for how long he could survive without the suit. But suspect will probably see him coming out of his bacta tank in his castle.
Vader isn't going to hunt down every random Jedi Padawan that just happened to survive. That's what the Inquisitors are for. He's got bigger targets, like Obi-Wan.
I do like the idea of Vader trying to see how long he can survive outside the suit while not in the Bacta tank, and I also recall this from pre Disney material, but if we see that constantly, it does beg the question of the necessity of the suit. That's far too much thought than they put into those scenes. They just wanted a cool looking "superhero suiting up sequence" for Vader rather than give it any meaning. Trust me. I would be shocked if they even explain anything remote to that piece of lore.
I get that the galaxy is a lot of ground to cover, but unless Vader was personally commanding the Empire's forces to conquer other worlds, what role does he really play other than to hunt Jedi? There's plenty of Imperial Officers to direct the battles. Vader doesn't need to be standing watch and from what we've seen, even in Rogue One, Vader doesn't show up until all other resources have failed, which makes you wonder how effective the Empire really is if all Vader does is clean up his subordinates messes?
Sure, Obi-Wan is a target, but why bother sending Inquisitors at all if both Vader and the Emperor know that only Vader can take on Kenobi? Why go through the effort and not just send Vader on the mission in the first place? If that many Jedi survived the Purge (Order 66 is such a dumb name) then how effective was the Order in the first place?
If Vader's role is merely to indimidate people into obeying the Empire rather than actually be a viable threat to those who oppose the Empire, then why would they even need him? The Death Star or any of their weaponry could have the same effect. Tarkin himself proclaims that fear will keep the local systems in line, fear of the Death Star. Even the Imperials in ANH openly disrespected Vader because in their minds he was a relic of another era who had little to do with the Empire's direct mission of controlling the galaxy. He was a henchman and they didn't take him seriously until he started choking people and killing them.
I know continuity isn't all that important to a lot of people as long as there are cool fights and everything, but when even the most basic questions of how these additions fit into the existing narrative, it's really hard for me to get into what's happening, and whether we like it or not this is all supposed to be just a small portion of a larger story. While the installment does have to stand on it's own as a story, it's place in the larger context matters.
