Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi (tv series)

Well in my mind, this should've been in the PT. The PT should've started with Anakin and Obi-wan already as adults and Anakin ultimately falls to the darkside at the end of Ep.II (perhaps mirroring the downer nature of TESB). Ep.III should've been Obi-wan pursuing Anakin and trying to bring him back over several encounters, finally culminating in a heartbreaking duel where Anakin is presumably killed as far as the audience is concerned. Ideally that would've been how the PT played out and Obi-wan stays in hiding for 20 years, which I have no problem with. Heck in the OT, Yoda had no obvious way of even leaving the planet, although one deleted RotS scene did show Yoda once had some sort of weird pod thingy. Frankly, it would've made way more sense to me for Obi-wan to take one kid and Yoda taken the other, but obviously George had written that possibility out a loooong time ago.

But that didn't happen so despite my reservations about this show even happening, the one silver lining for me would've been if they did latch onto Vader's RoTJ line and Obi-wan attempts to do what I felt should've been in the PT: attempting to find Vader and bring him back. That would've been a credit to the canon and a worthwhile effort. Instead what we've gotten is a canon bending (if not breaking) thing that seems rather pointless.

Well I would've preferred Qui-gon been a supporting character in the show but I could see them mimicking RoTJ's ghost scene in his overdue appearance. I think his dialogue will be minimal, if at all.

This is what I thought the Prequels would be. Obi discovers young adult Anakin. Ep 2 ends with him becoming Vader and Ep 3 is Obi trying to stop and save him. Just like you said. That's what me and all my fellow fan friends thought would happen but obviously not.

Not going to spoil it but according to leaks something very ROTJish does happen.

Same. That's how I had hoped the PT had gone.

ORRRRR maybe Vader beats Obi-wan in their rematch and he says "You've failed, Obi-wan. I am a Sith, like my master before me..."
Clearly Reva will face off against baby Luke, and Reva will say “I am all the inquisitors”, to which Luke will reply “well I am all the younglings”, followed by him using two spinny hamster wheel lightsabers to deflect Reva’s spinny hamster wheel lightsaber back at her, where she will then die before being brought back by Obi-Wan’s Force healing so she can live to fight another day in REVA: What a Jedi Girl Wants (It’s Revenge), coming soon to Disney+. And yes, the bolded text is the full title.

Something along those lines might actually happen here thanks to "genius" storytelling at Lucasfilm. Vader overpowers him and thinks so little of Kenobi that he's no threat and instantly becomes irrelevant. So Vader says "If we meet again, it will be your end." then he leaves Kenobi to die just like he was left to die and walks off into the darkness. Compelling lol.

I could care less what happens to Reva.

Let's be real there's zero likelihood that what happens in the last episode will save the series. Still watching out of morbid curiosity

Whatever happens, the show is already ruined for me. So I'm going to try something different.
Tomorrow, and for the next few days, I'll read all the comments coming in, THEN watch the episode on Friday. Might be more fun that way.

The rumors are now floating the ending has been altered to allow for a second season which is in the works. Because, you know, they have more filler to offer. Anyone like Twinkies???

Look part of this series "having to answer lingering questions" falls partly on to George for rushing through all the key plot points he glossed over or rushed through in his nearly 9 hours of content he created for the PT. He was just as guilty of adding filler and not really developing pieces that could have been spectacular.

I think I said it a few pages back that death has lost all meaning in these stories. It has no permanence and therefore severely underscores the lack of agency in the writing. Characters "die" and then reappear so frequently that it's no longer shocking or interesting. It's like a jump scare in a horror movie. The more they use it, the less effective it becomes and only serves to weaken the narrative because they can't use other skills to give the same result.

Sadly, SW has adopted the comic book approach to death. In short, it clearly no longer means much. I suppose this all started with Boba Fett surviving decades ago in the EU but frankly at the time it didn't seem like such a stretch that a seasoned, armored bounty hunter bristling with weapons and no obvious injuries could've conceivably survived the sarlacc. Much later, Darth Maul survives and has probably been the most egregious and ridiculous example of a character being resurrected. Even more recently, Disney has been pretty blase about bringing characters back to life, only offering the flimsiest of explanations, if any at all (ie: somehow Palpatine survived, revenge does wonders to the will to live...,etc). Conversely and bizarrely, I guess Qui-gon's passion to train the chosen one he had just discovered or Padme's desire to be a mother just wasn't enough to overcome an apparently highly survivable torso impalement or a broken heart.

That said, I am fully expecting Mace Windu to come back at some point. I've seen fanboys clamoring for it and I truly think it is only a matter of time. I really think we're now in a phase where basically anything goes and the sad thing is, his potential survival isn't as ridiculous as others we've seen. Maybe he landed in a passing speeder and nursed back to health by a single mother of two who isn't appreciated at her desk job. Maybe he fell onto a nearby marshmallow factory where a gang of plucky factory droids try to keep him safe. Maybe he fell through a series of fortuitously placed awnings on the way down until he reached the literal lower depths of society and lived the life of an old amnesiac hermit until he is rediscovered by Ahsoka years after RotJ, who helps him remember who he once was. I mean, why the hell not at this point...?

I can't wait until AI deep fakes are so good, that we can all make our own Star Wars shows. May the best Man/Woman/Other win ; )
Technically, we already can. And we don't need deep fakes to do it (such as Source Filmmaker or iClone, or just live action fan films). But I get the sentiment. At this point, the only way Star Wars can survive is if the fans do it, and do it better.

Example:
