Star Wars Exhibition in Madrid, Spain

Hi everyone,

Having missed out on this exhibition in London and Sweden, I'm now thinking about visiting it in Spain (nice weather and pretty girls are an added bonus ;))

But the images I've seen so far seems to be mostly Prequel stuff (grroooaaannn :wacko) and I'm wondering if anyone has been to see this exhibit in Madrid yet (specificaly in Madrid, as the content seems to change from venue to venue)

Main draws for me would be :

Han in Carbonite prop (absent from Sweden exhibit, but was at London and Belgium)
Boushh Costume
Lifesize Speeder Bike from ROTJ
Leia's Metal Bikini from ROTJ
Vader Reveal helmet from ROTJ - I know *this* is at the exhibition but sadly appears to be displayed ina very dark environment :(

Not too bothered about the Special edition Stormtrooper costume (yawn - I know where there's a much better one! :love)

I know some people love the Prequel stuff, but I wouldn't consider maquettes of cgi animals from the Geonosis Arena fight in AOTC to be a major attraction (for me anyways :unsure)

Any Spanish members wanna help me out here?! :)

Cheers,
John

Sorry I can't be any help as I live in the states, but if you do go AND they do have the Boushh costume, I would love it if you could take some pictures.

I have seen it because I live in Spain and I love it :lol

Wow KaanE.. those are some GREAT pics, and a big 'thank you' for the links as well :thumbsup

Can you please confirm if the following items are at the exhibition?

Han in Carbonite prop
Boushh Costume
Leia's Metal Bikini from ROTJ

Glad to see that there are plenty of OT props and costumes, but with each successive time this exhibition moves, there seems to be more requel content, than OT content :unsure

Although it's great to see the Mouse Droid, Death Star Droid and the Vader Reveal helmet from ROTJ :love

Thanks for your help.... Hasta Manana!

Cheers,
John

Hey Supertrooper, here is the answer:

Han in Carbonite prop - NOT
Boushh Costume - YES
Leia's Metal Bikini from ROTJ - YES

There is not any Han or Luke prop, except a SS Speederbike with a SS Luke on it. And about the original trilogy... well, I think that it's very compensated (the exhibition), IMO it has 50% OT 50% Pre.

Hope that helps :)

Thanks again KaanE, for the super-quick reply :)

Damn.... have they shipped the Han in Carbonite prop back to Skywalker Ranch or what?
Or did somebody forget to pack it into a truck in Brussels when the exhibition was moving-on? ;)
Maybe I should book a ticket for Brussels whilst I'm at it! :lol

The Hand in Carbo was so badly protected, a lot of panel details was missing last time I had a look at it when it was in France. I didn´t get a chance to see the exhibit in Brussels, although I worked only an hour away from it. I still kick myself for not going again, with a better camera.

Any new PT costumes on display, i.e. any captain typho or Naboo guards stuff out there ?

Michael

These are the Precuel objects:

Anakin Pod Racer 1:1

Sebulba Pod Racer 1:1

Zam Wesell Speeder 1:1

Anakin Pod Racer Studio Scale

Some draws and concepts.

Some parts of the Pod's race.

Other Pod Racer SS, I can't remember the name right now.

Qui Gon Ep. I and Obi-Wan Ep. III Jedi costumes.

Anakin Skywalker (Darth Vader) Jedi costume Ep. III

Some lifesize chairs.

Some SS builds from Utapau.

2 wookies costumes from Ep. III, one of them is Chewaka.

Jango Costume (Stunt).

Darth Maul costume.

Some droids 1:1 scale.

A Senate Guard (the royal guard but in blue :) ).

Padmé costumes (all from Ep. I).

A SS Naboo Starfighter.

And another 50% is OT. And trust me, I was 7 hours to do all the pics and look to all the props, so there are enought items :)

Cool pics thanks! I'm likely to be in Madrid within the next couple of weeks so might go and check it out again (I saw it in London already) with a Spanish colleague who hasn't been yet.

Great that you can get a view from behind several of the objects!
I like the futuristic white interior in the "hangar"! Not so dull, any more. :) I want to decorate my home like that ...

I'm seriously tempted to go see this as well, but DAMN it's a shame that the lighting around the props / costumes is so poor :(
Looks like it's in a freakin' cave!

I remember the Art of Star Wars exhibition in Edinburgh, Scotland a few years back and the lighting was bad, but nowhere near as dark as here... what a real shame, and I suppose flash photography isn't an option with all the glass cases, causing reflections :cry

Cheers,
John (thinking of going with a Night-Vision scope) :lol

As far as lighting, of the three I've attended in Europe this year (Brussels, Sweden and Madrid) this one is lit the best. It's brighter than the other two, but certainly not photographic-style lighting. If you took a camera on a tripod and did some timed exposures, you should get good results...and if you had a wired flash, you can hold it off angle to the lens so as not to get reflections.

HeHehe!
Stormtrooper!
the problem is not the light ,are the cameras!
what do you want ,an exhibition in the midle of a sunny Hoth , tatooine day???

The low light creates a dramathic ambient!

HALA MADRID!

The lighting in the exhibit looks the same as when I was in London. -

-CAUTION, BIIIIG Image, I have a lot of other photos of this quality if there's anything anyone needs.

I think that LFL must demand some maximum light levels for OT props to prevent damage as most of the PT stuff is pretty well lit.

Wow...there was some really great stuff at that show...The archive room from Celebration IV should have been more like that...and the lighting is bad at all Lucasfilm archive exhibits...I think they do it deliberately to cut down on the quality of the images that are out there....
