I've been out of the shop for a couple of weeks, but I'm looking forward to hitting the ground running on Monday. I'll be wrapping up the last few outstanding finished helmets in the coming week.

For those of you waiting on finished sets, I spent a few days last week trimming and sanding the chest and back armor as well as cleaning up chest box castings:

As of Friday night, all of the shoulder detail bits were fixed in place:

With a bit more sanding and cleanup, I'll be ready to spray on the basecoat like the helmets:

Sadly, my compressor finally died. So that'll slow me down a bit.

Apologies for not posting a reply sooner. I keep forgetting to take pictures of the cut version of the back piece.

Here's what I ended up going with:

I've got a 43" chest and if I trim the arm and neck holes enough I can actually leave the front and underarms uncut and just slip it on like a t-shirt. But when I do that it's really tough to get it back off without help. It'll probably be a bit tough on the fabric of the flightsuit too. Cutting out big chunks like this makes it easier to get on and off and isn't all that likely to be noticed by most folks looking at the costume.

I cut mine just like that for the backplate. I wear a S men's t-shirt normally so I picked up the Small version of yours and fits really tight. I couldn't even get it on without cutting like your picture. Hope it will all fit with the flightsuit on, which is super thin and comfortable.

Apologies to all for being out of touch. Between work and the flu I've been kinda useless for the past week or two.

I'm back to work on these guys this week and should have good news for everyone waiting on finished sets very soon. Right now I have to get back to work on filling and sanding the gauntlets.

I've got ID numbers to add to a couple other helmets today and then it's time for the final clearcoat.

Then it's just a big pile of gauntlets and a couple of helmets to clean up:

UPDATE for those of you waiting on finished sets:

I've fitted tee nuts to the back of all of the chest and belt boxes, then drilled holes so I can mount them to the chest armor:

Then I cleaned up a few more sets of chest boxes:

And primed them:

Now I just need to finish prepping all of the switches and buttons:

Chests are sanded and gauntlet cleanup continues. Done soon.
