Star Wars blu ray in September

....and DO......ENDLESSLY.

Get over it.

Go watch Blade Runner since it's so wonderful. Start Blade Runner clubs.

You could all dress as replicants and do charity events.

Yeah it sucks when people do things you have no control over, and can't stop them no matter how much you whine about it.

I'd buy Star Wars (theatrical) if it was available on Blu-Ray. :)

I already have the HDTV rips saved on my computer, I can see the special ed editions in HD anytime. Until I can get the original cuts in HD there's no need for me to spend money.

I would love to see some animated Clone Wars influences from the beard of GL. All the clone troopers are digital so why can't we have Rex make a background appearance in the big battle in episode II? And I was listening to the Force Cast podcast and Ashley Eckstein made a vague reference to dressing as Ashoka in costume and that got me thinking how cool it would be to see her walk through the background of the jedi temple in episode III. Lot's of cool opportunities for Clone Wars easter eggs. And I've got to say, I'd really like to see something done with Order 66 because it felt like all the jedi just rolled over and died (specially Aayla Secura) and if we could jazz up that section with some better jedi fighting, maybe even a few escaped jedi. I would really appreciate it.

I'd bet it's close enough for cigars, but broadcast HD, is not the same quality as BR media right? Or is it all just 1's and zeros? Have you trimmed the commercials out?

They're not my rips, I got them off the web. Ripped from premium cable so no commercials, uncut in full widescreen. TV has some compression compared to BD but they aren't bad, good enough for the special ed editions.

You are right Broadcast is not always the same res, but it also can be.

Regardless at 16:9 you are not getting the whole picture if you don't have black bars.

I'd probably describe it as somewhere between DVD and Blu-ray in overall quality. Like watching HD on Netflix, it's highly-compressed 720p.

If you're happy with that, fine. But if you actually want top image quality, you'll want highest resolution, lowest compression, which means having them on disc.

Full image, 1080 resolution. MKV files about 8gb each. Not as good as BD but good enough for the special eds, unless they're original versions I just don't care enough.

Got those and better, they still don't compare on a 65" DiamondVision with a reasonably good player.

They just don't.

I also skipped any DVD purchase. So if Han shoots Greedo (first or second shouldn't even enter into it) and corrected all the techinical problems from the DVD, it's a go for me. Lucky me.

Don't get your hopes up. The 2004 DVD changed this to sort of a simultaneous shot with Greedo shooting a split second sooner. Still doesn't explain how the hell Greedo could miss at point blank range, but yeah, he does get off a shot, and no, that's not gonna change outside of an archival version of Star Wars.

He misses because the blaster bolt comes out of the barrel at like a 45 degree angle. It's insanely stupid.

Ugh, I guess. I would like to think even SE supporters can see why Greedo shooting is pointless though...

I would be one of those. Love the changes in the movies.... except the Han/Greedo thing. I get the idea that GL does not want Han to have the hint that he is a cold blooded killer, but that is not what is going on there. I do not think fans see it that way either. As far as I am concerend, it is the same thing a two guys facing off in the old west for a showdown. No one considers the hero in those movies a killer if he outdraws to save his own life. Han did not go looking for a fight and he knew he was a split second from dying. It was "justified". ;)
