I'm a purist, and I respect a filmmaker's original vision, so I find Adywan's "stuff" to be quite offensive.

Lucas has sad over and over that the SE versions ARE his original vision...

You respect that? :lol

Or you mean his original "Unfinished" 1977 release? :angel

I would LOVE to have a cleaned up HD version of the theatrical release. But I've got want in one hand and the other is already filled up. :sick

I was at a recent VES screening of Empire at ILM. They screened the HD master. It looked awesome, even on a 60ft screen. the sound was unbelievably cool.
They gave us Posters and JW Rinzler hosted a panel where Phil Tippet, Don Bies, Dennis Muren, Lorne Peterson and Paul Huston answered questions. It made for a very entertaing evening. Then they signed our posters (and my Making of Empire Book) whilst my son had a mock lightsaber battle with his friend in the seats.

Anyway, it looked great and it was the Special Edition Version. I don't think there will be an Original version included, but I could be wrong..

I'm still buying it...

Cheers

Michael

So other than it being in HD it was the EXACT SE version? Like what we saw on SPIKEHD?

Were there any new scenes? Anything?

Is the HORRIBLE SE wampa still there? (only prob I have with the SE ESB)

Why then has it taken soo long to get the BR versions out? :unsure

Nope, nothing new at all. Exactly what we saw when the special editions came out in theatres. Empire got the least re-touching anyway, I don't mind the Wampa scene, it fits in nicely for me.

I've never seen the Spike version, so I can't compare, but as for Image and sound quality, it was top notch. It was great to see it on the big screen and LOUD.

Can't wait for September!!

The theatrical SE release is a step backwards from the 2004 dvd release. I highly doubt that.

But honestly... I got the 2004 versions... still thinking of getting rid of those as well as the two PT movies I actually bought. There's nothing reported with these BR versions that I would be interested in getting them for.

I'm so happy that Lucas is so pig headed... means I get to save my money. (y)rolleyes

I meant in terms of content, no changes, no new shots or fixes. What was different about the DVD version?

No more SE for me. I am not wasting any more money on that crap. God I wish Spielberg could talk some sense into his quality challenged friend. Give the fans what they want.

good - hes releasing the 2 trilogies seperately. i will be surprised if the prequels sell close to the original

bad - if you want the extras disk (which are 3) you have to buy the complete saga box set.

this release like my lower intestine is stinky and full of danger. you figured they had all the time in the world with unlimited resourses they better not mess these up like they did with the 2004. i wish someone would knock some sense into uncle george and get him to release the originals.

I really doubt these will be identical to the already released DVDs.

As for what's different in the SE theatrical release and the DVDs: modified color (that doesn't work very well with the lightsabers in several scenes), Boba's new accent, Jabba gains some weight, the Rancor loses it's matte lines... and that's really all I remember.

Some of the changes in the 04 DVD release were a rush job, done to meet a release date to combat foreign bootlegs.

Plus, I already own those on DVD and can upconvert them... I'll call that good enough, unless this new version is fixed.

I am already scared by this release. The SE color was just horrible. Blue hue throughout ESB :sick. To release them on blu-Ray I hope they fixed their color issues, not to mention all the other problems they created with that release. But they probably wont. I will pass on this, unless they actually have the OT remastered and in HD included.

3 discs of bonus features? Makes me think that a lot of it is PT stuff and little is OT. Personally, I would prefer a seperate disc of bonus features per movie. A 12 disc collection.
