Star Wars blu ray in September

I'm so glad I have my DVD bootlegs of the unaltered Laserdisc versions of the OT. I really can't watch the SE of ROTJ anymore. :thumbsdown

Boba had the Kiwi accent in the version I saw. As for colour timing, my memory is not THAT good....

Again, I only saw Empire, but from what I saw, there had been no more fixes undertaken for this version, but the picture and sound quality were great.

They won't be the same masters as the DVD's but the versions of the movies will be the same.

I really doubt these will be identical to the already released DVDs.

As for what's different in the SE theatrical release and the DVDs: modified color (that doesn't work very well with the lightsabers in several scenes), Boba's new accent, Jabba gains some weight, the Rancor loses it's matte lines... and that's really all I remember.

Some of the changes in the 04 DVD release were a rush job, done to meet a release date to combat foreign bootlegs.

Plus, I already own those on DVD and can upconvert them... I'll call that good enough, unless this new version is fixed.

I just wish they'd release a BR version of the pre-SE OT! I'd pay a lot of cash for that but until then I'm happy with what I've got.

Awesome! Did the press release say if the OT was Special Edition or Original Recipe?

I'm afraid the Original Recipe is not in the game plan. Here's his response on that.

Lucas said that the original trilogy films included on the Blu-Ray release will be the remastered special editions. He explained:
“Releasing the originals is kind of an oxymoron because the quality of the original is not very good. You have to go through and do a whole restoration on it, and you have to do that digitally. It’s a very, very expensive process to do it. So when we did the transfer to digital, we only transferred really the upgraded version.”

Nah, 'cause even though you'll be running 'round and 'round in circles, trying not to get hit, Mic, Larry or someone else, will swoop in and knock ya out.

No more SE for me. I am not wasting any more money on that crap. God I wish Spielberg could talk some sense into his quality challenged friend. Give the fans what they want.

+1 for me too... if it doesn't have the original Star Wars, I won't be buying it. Couldn't care less about all the other crap if it doesn't have the one thing I want.

I call BS. He'd make buckets of money with yet another box set... One I'd actually buy.

Charge $150 for just the three restored films, no special features. I'd still stand in line.

All the ones complaining about not having the originals and boycotting buying the set will not give Lucas a drop of sweat in worry. It will be one of the biggest selling Blu-Rays ever.

For each one boycotting there'll be hundreds buying. It's not going to exactly send a shockwave through Lucasfilm over the dispute. Never has before.

It's gonna happen. People are definitely gonna throw down the dough for this set.

I do admire Spielberg for answering to the purists of E.T. and offering both the 20th anniv. Special Edition as well as the original unaltered cut as a set even though later on he disagreed with the shotguns as an afterthought.

I have no delusions that I'm swaying Lucas on anything. Just saying that I don't like the SE so I'm not buying them. The films I love are the original cuts.
