For real-world military aircraft, it is strips of metallic/metallized foil ejected to fool incoming radar-guided missiles that the foil are the target. I don't think they have much mass though: the missile would have to explode on its own.I have heard the term a lot, but what exactly is Chaff?
I think the most ridiculous thing about the "ship lightsabers" is that Luthen managed to hit two targets with (one of) the beams, at speed and while spinning.
He must have been either Force-sensitive or had a seriously sophisticated flying computer to be able to pull that off.
Small flecks of paint can inflict severe damages in space...so you don't need something heavy or big to do soFor real-world military aircraft, it is strips of metallic/metallized foil ejected to fool incoming radar-guided missiles that the foil are the target. Against heat-guided missiles, flares are used instead.
Luthen's "countermeasures" looked like small aerial mines.
I think that the laser beam ship is the same as the souped-up chariot of Messala in Ben-Hur. Yep, you gotta be close to your target to be effectiveIt seems that some, not all, view the Rebels as "good guys" who wouldn't resort to the same tactic as the Empire...wrong on that one: context is everything, of course but sometimes a warrior has to resort to actions of which he will not be proud. Call it honor, decency or something else, but war is simply men hunting other men...period! It's a known historical facts that some groups/battalions had a very scary reputation among the enemy and that way of doing thing was to instill fear. Demoralizing fear...If the Empire have these kind of groups, then the Rebellion has to have theirs

I love Stellan Skarsgård so much that I don't think I would hate seeing that.I want Luthen to be Palpatine's brother. Also a secret Jedi. He and his brother have an epic saber battle.

It could be explained as being different models of helmets with only slight differences. With the Imperial military being as large as it is, it wouldn't be unbelievable to have different versions of certain uniform items being in use at the same time. When a new version or model of a piece of gear or vehicle enters military service, it takes a while for everybody who uses it to get it with Reservists often being the last or getting the thing being replaced from the active duty side. And, in some cases, like uniforms, some people will choose to wear their old uniforms until the very last possible day before switching over to the new version either because or not able to afford the new uniform, nor liking the new uniform, or both.Another great episode..loved the Cantwell nod and that whole scene..however..obsessive detail nitpick time!
I thought it was strange they used Rogue One footage for the Tie when they already showed their own unique Andor version in Ep 6.
…nitpick done

Yeah that's a good pointWho the heck has counter measures that take that long to, what? Open? That could have just as easily been time to plot a jump to hyperspace route/jump.

Having said that, I loved that entire sequence. It was fantastic!
