Star Wars Andor (Disney+ TV series)

I have heard the term a lot, but what exactly is Chaff?
For real-world military aircraft, it is strips of metallic/metallized foil ejected to fool incoming radar-guided missiles that the foil are the target. I don't think they have much mass though: the missile would have to explode on its own.
Against heat-guided missiles, flares are used instead.

Luthen's "countermeasures" looked like small aerial mines to me, as if they exploded on impact.

I think the most ridiculous thing about the "ship lightsabers" is that Luthen managed to hit two targets with (one of) the beams, at speed and while spinning.
He must have been either Force-sensitive or had a seriously sophisticated flying computer to be able to pull that off.

Okay I know many are not gonna like this theory and I know family relations have been done to death, but I want Luthen to be Palpatine's brother. Also a secret Jedi. He and his brother have an epic saber battle. I want Vader in this,...a lot. Solo can show up. Obi Wan and Vader have another battle while Andor watches. Stormies, Ewoks, space battles, epic struggle between good and evil, oh my!

The intricacies of interstellar banking and Imperial career ladder climbing is interesting as well.

I think that the laser beam ship is the same as the souped-up chariot of Messala in Ben-Hur. Yep, you gotta be close to your target to be effective (y) It seems that some, not all, view the Rebels as "good guys" who wouldn't resort to the same tactic as the Empire...wrong on that one: context is everything, of course but sometimes a warrior has to resort to actions of which he will not be proud. Call it honor, decency or something else, but war is simply men hunting other men...period! It's a known historical facts that some groups/battalions had a very scary reputation among the enemy and that way of doing thing was to instill fear. Demoralizing fear...If the Empire have these kind of groups, then the Rebellion has to have theirs;)

Small flecks of paint can inflict severe damages in space...so you don't need something heavy or big to do so(y)

You sexist, misogynistic, man. Women kill each other just as well. Perhaps better, and more brutally. Granted though, not as often.:lol::love::love:

I love Stellan Skarsgård so much that I don't think I would hate seeing that.

During his speech about how he gave up everything and was as bad as his enemy, even though he's not, I got such a Palpatine vibe off him. Like if Palpy was a good guy but still had a dark side in him while fighting for a good cause.

In an early episode Luthen is seen retracting his “saber-staff” and it makes a somewhat familiar sound. Nothing to see here? Now we see it again. What if it functions as a staff, until a certain kyber crystal is put back in? Hmm…

Another great episode..loved the Cantwell nod and that whole scene..however..obsessive detail nitpick time!

I thought it was strange they used Rogue One footage for the Tie when they already showed their own unique Andor version in Ep 6.

…nitpick done :)

It could be explained as being different models of helmets with only slight differences. With the Imperial military being as large as it is, it wouldn't be unbelievable to have different versions of certain uniform items being in use at the same time. When a new version or model of a piece of gear or vehicle enters military service, it takes a while for everybody who uses it to get it with Reservists often being the last or getting the thing being replaced from the active duty side. And, in some cases, like uniforms, some people will choose to wear their old uniforms until the very last possible day before switching over to the new version either because or not able to afford the new uniform, nor liking the new uniform, or both.

The notion that Luthen's ship's beams were lightsaber technology is slightly Implausible to me. The beams were red so someone would've had to corrupt 2 larger kyber crystals and make them bleed with the dark side. As we know from the canon Vader comics (as dumb as they are) corrupting one lightsaber size kyber crystal is an extremely difficult task that even Vader almost wasn't able to complete. On top of that aligning the crystals is also difficult and again something a only force sensitive would be able to do.

If Luthen turns out to be force sensitive, I'm out. I don't care how much I enjoyed the rest of the show.

Yeah I don’t literally think they were lightsabers but just some sort of beam weapon. I do feel they should’ve made it look a little more visually different.

I really like the idea he was deploying chaff or some other countermeasure. That’s a neat take on it.

A friend of mine theorized Luthen could have some sort of Jedi connection. In addition to what has been said, he had that kyber crystal that hasnt been mentioned again. Being a guy that sells collectibles, that might not actually mean much though. Seems like there are some potential oddities about him that could imply things though.

Who the heck has counter measures that take that long to, what? Open? That could have just as easily been time to plot a jump to hyperspace route/jump.

Having said that, I loved that entire sequence. It was fantastic!
