Star Wars Andor (Disney+ TV series)

You mean the writing, the head writer, from New York?

...

Joke

Obi Wan was originally to reuse some sets from Andor as was a film hence the amount of time and money that went into the project. But the world changed in a short time. I'm going to guess it's costing a small fortune to keep the studio space rented with those sets standing. HBO and Westworld has spent hundreds of millions to modify and keep the studio ranch location locked in over the years.
Can anyone around the andor sets confirm its still standing?

nah. the production. as far as i know it wasn't made in new york. could be wrong though...
it certainly wasnt made in la by robert rodriguez in a projection room though
heh doesnt look like anybody in a cowboy hat had anything to do with it either....

We will always wonder what the original Obi Wan series would have been with practical locations and the non Reva/little Leia story.

As much as I tear down the Bubba frett show it was a lower budget. But on the bright side, let's get the worst out of the way early so the creme can rise.

i remember the rumblings about George going over there to film because it was cheaper and the barely employed brits in the languishing old studio thinking not much was going to come of it. after breaking huge they claimed it as their own. im tempted to say give it to them....
leave the comic book movies to cali. more their pace and mindset

I'd have to strongly disagree on that. I'm one of those Cali boys and can attest long hours and no tea time. I'm no fan of filming complete green screen or now led screen. But it has it purposes and unlocked possibilities never before thought possible as a whole. Wait until avatar 2 is released. It was filmed nearly side by side with many of those same Cali boys behind it.

aye, we'll have to just strongly agree to strongly disagree. i haven't been waiting a long time for any Avatar 2. i think that ship sailed more than a decade ago and in my opinion only was an over cgi fest. maybe a little tea time should be mandatory.....

hey remember overload Speed Racer? me neither.

lol. anybody want to touch this one? anyone? Bueller?
nm. the silence was deafening....

If you're inferring, or rather the show, that the reason was because they are a lesbians, I find that hard to believe. I would think they were well aware of that in the thousands of years of civilization in that universe. I would think they would be past that by then. Which is why I asked if it was the number or people or if it's because they are new outsiders.

Given the Empire's very strong conservative bent and also given that we really haven't seen many if any, same sex couples in Star Wars, a pair of lesbians might draw a little more attention to themselves than they'd want. You have to remember that this is Star Wars, not Star Trek. I'm guessing that in the Star Warsvers, homosexuality isn't as openly accepted as it is in the Trekverse.

Like I said before I consider Andor the best Star Wars series made so far. Yes, it might be slow for some, and even boring, but these extra layers of character development, of background information about the high class of Coruscant, as well as simple people everywhere in the galaxy, and Empire's iron fist, are making this show a true gem. And then, for the first time in Star Wars shows and films, the politics didn't seem boring, every scene with Mon Mothma is interesting. I waited for a Star Wars show like this forever.

The background layers of political strategies, establishing solid characters history (from the Rebels to the Empire) is to pave the way for other similar kind of series in the future. Solid writing, human stories (power, greed and war) and showing the "Not-so-nice" ways of the Rebellion vs the "Not-so-nice" ways of the Empire is basically Universal. :)

*Unless you are in the Middle East or Singapore where this scene was removed because Disney is a pathetic virtue signaling shallow entity and should never be taken seriously.

Is it because they were lesbians, or because they were two rebels and a massive heist was just pulled off. One coming by themself should not drive too much attention, but two suddenly coming into town and moving in would raise some suspicions if they were the ones who pulled it off or not.

I think that they left it vague enough that you could interpret their lines going either way.

i think it was both. being lovers would have attracted unwanted attention by the empire who may connect the dots them being rebels who pulled off the heist.
yes vague enough to not be beaten over the head with it.
the dialog also gives a clue.
a few episodes back the guy andor shot warned him not to mess with one that way because they were already involved with someone else. haven't seen that someone else being a male...also there was "love" talk in the scene we are discussing.

...and the biggest clue was the hand touching scene between the two right before the heist proper.

A question for everyone--

My wife and I stopped watching Andor the episode before the heist. We agreed that it was immeasurably superior to the other SW shows, but the nominal protagonist, Andor, was the most passive and least fleshed out of all the characters. We simply didn't give a womprat's ass about him, especially after the goal of finding his sister was utterly forgotten after the first episode.

Has that changed for the better in the subsequent episodes, or is Andor still a rudderless cipher?
