Star Wars Andor (Disney+ TV series)

When I saw Karn's mother I could not help thinking of THIS:

No offense to anyone but there IS a striking resemblance, especially the haircut... ;)

Fortunately when Han says, "Then I'll see you in Hell" in ESB it was an isolated incident so I was able to get past it.
But ROTJ, as I recall, was so chock full of oddball and out of character dialogue it drove me out of my teenage geek mind.
Han never actually said “See you in Hell”. That was the theatre‘s universal translator doing its best to extrapolate Correlian into Human English.

I finally got caught up so I can post! I really like it so far. My only complaints are the AK blasters of course, officers using the British pronounciation of Lieutenant, which I believe in the Clone Wars was the American version, and then the idiotic open comms during the attack to get the currency. For the latter they needed to take a page from Aaron Allston in Wraith Squadron where they just keyed their mics to signal so they didn't have voice traffic going out.

I actually LIKED the TV. In my mind, they're staying with the way the tech would've looked had this been made before ANH, Much like how the Death Star plans used the same 'computer' graphics as in '77. The holograms used for wanted posters & the DS plans in ROTS pulled me out much more.
Totally agree. This stuff was discussed in the SW thread recently but this aesthetic and level of tech we're seeing fits so well, far more so than the fancy holodisplays and such we saw in the PT. To me SW could/should have its own design language and tech that's every bit as recognizable and unique as cyberpunk, etc.

The latest episode was great and it's a testament to the writing that we can have a SW show with only sporadic action and it be so good. It is so well done, at least a far as I'm concerned. Worlds apart from TBOBF and Kenobi in most every regard. I guess Col. Yularen was the first legacy character we've seen in the show.

This amount of world-building has been long overdue.

Andor is top tier Star Wars with the writing, the characters, the acting, world-building and even suspense/action. Andor does everything better.

But I hear the analytics show that it is not pulling many views. How is that? A lot of folks seem to love this show very, very much, and I've watched each episode multiple times.

This is just the start of something great within Star Wars. Please don't let it die with this show.

I was watching a reaction video & agree with one of their points. Many fans have been saying they wanted more "adult" SW, but aren't really turning out for the show. It seems that when some say "adult", they mean "violent".

I think this show perfectly captures some things perfectly, from Andor's aimlessness & recruitment, to the tension & stress in the planning, the tension & adrenaline of the mission, & finally the aftermath where he thinks he's free & clear only to be blindsided by an inadvertent consequence of his actions.

Where others see slow & plodding, I personally see the ebb & flow of a life, & I'm here for it.

World building as dascoyne said(y) It's not all Pew Pew and action; it's the behind-the-scene of life's routine...either politically, strategically or others.
The Rebel and their friends are using whatever means to send a clear message to the Empire: get out and leave us to live our lives the way we always wanted to live it! The bureaucracy of the Empire and the inner struggle for power within that bureaucracy is well portraited/written.
The casting is excellent and seeing many great International actors fleshing out those characters is a joy that I anticipate every week.

It's funny... I don't care about the bricks, or hoodies or other common complaints, but for some reason, the alias of "Clem" (while I know why he used it) just takes me out of it

I guess it sounds too much like a name you would have in old bugs bunny cartoons or the Three Stooges

Small and nagging, but that is my only complaint so far :D

The thing that I haven't seen anyone call out, that I actually laughed at, was Cassian using 'Shave & a Haircut' as an identifying knock when visiting Bix. Out of all the nitpicky nonsense I've seen called out, I just KNEW that was going to be complained about.

Lol

Could not agree more. I remember when Revenge of the Sith was coming out and how fans were clamoring for it to be R rated, as if that would make it a better movie!

I prefer cerebral over pew pew pew any day. That being said there needs to be a bit of pew, and sadly, Star Trek TMP proved too much cerebral written the wrong way can be tiresome.

But Andor is hitting all of the right notes.

Luthen Rael: "The network has been built. It's up. It either grows or dies."
Supervisor Lt. Derdra Meero (criticizing inefficiency of sector divisions): "Systems either change or die... Sir."
Rael and Meero are both forces for evolution in their respective sides of the conflict. Interesting.

There also seems to be a parallel made with Cassian and Syril with their maternal relationships. The writing is so adept I trust they won't smash us on the head just to underscore those parallels.

I think of a lot of the complaints are from the same people who thought the Sequels were the best SW ever. They are like babies giggling when you jingle keys for them. They just want a lot of bright flashing colors and FX. When they get a real story, they think it's boring. I think when Cassian fast drawed and blasted that dude that it gave the show its adult bona fides!

I think that, in time, Andor might become the hidden gem of Star Wars series. Maybe even a cult series, if story and characters keep developing well. These days, lack of patience and haste make us ignore the quality of more complex shows, which may have something to say in more than just a few minutes. We have become too used to fast paced stories, that take place in 20-30 minutes, and then start all over again. We forgot the ways of our elders, to take the time to understand what is going on in life, and extrapolating here, right in this show.

Paused on Cassian's court record and it says:

Name: Keith Seymour

Crime:
Suspected Force sensitivity.
Assaulting an Imperial officer.

Sentence: Twenty five years

Bit of a disparity there with the final dialogue!

According to a couple of breakdown sites, the cards were switched but evidently it wasn't caught in post-production. Even then, the one that's supposed to be Andor's has some mistakes on it.
