Star Wars Ahsoka (tv series)

Hayden Christensen also felt more alive than in ROTS.
I think he was basing some of his performance off Matt Lanter's take on Anakin in TCW -- or Filoni was directing him so as to achieve the same result. Anakin in TCW -- particularly in his scenes with Ahsoka -- mostly had a different manner than what we saw in AotC and RotS, because he was in the role of a teacher, which he was definitely stepping back into in this episode. Pretty sure this actually was Anakin's "Force ghost," post RotJ; witness his reply when Ahsoka told him she would not fight him.

Maybe it's just me. But I feel like the more they try and connect Ahsoka with films, the more obtuse and ridiculous her inclusion becomes. Like when I sit down and watch the Prequels. I have hard feeling like all those events and Anakin having a Padawan happened between Episodes II and III.

Also I see in the screenshots they've kinda sorta retconned some of the looks in TCW. Ahsoka is in her Tales of the Jedi outfit. Not her TCW look. And they use the film version of the gunship.

It worked, the episode was the BEST episode of any live action Star Wars from D+.

I saw Star Wars in the drive-in in 1977. I was 8 years old.

This was EXACTLY what this life-long fan wanted out of Nu-Wars.

I know exactly what you mean. It's hard to reconcile- possible is not the same as believable. She isn't mentioned in the PT at all and given the level of her significance that Filoni maintains is present I definitely find that hard to believe. The scenes they added for TCW that take place during ROTS help but I end up separating Filoni's universe from the OT and PT. I do greatly enjoy her character in TCW, Rebels and even in this show at times.

EDIT:... nevermind. Ain't worth stirring them up.
I dont know if you're referring to me as I'm one of the those who has expressed SOME criticism on this show. I dont think you'd be stirring anyone up. I cant speak for anyone else but if you make good points I think about them and change my position if warranted. I still think it's hard to convey tone at times but hopefully hellfire isn't figuratively flying out of my posts because thats not how I feel. I'm all for ways of thinking about this show/approaching it that might help it be to more enjoyable or better understood.

I watched the entire episode because of all the hype on social media & I really don't get it.
I don't get the feels, It isn't Star Wars for me
It's all very slow & drawn out, scenes last too long, the pacing of the lightsaber fights look basic & not very dynamic
Everyone talks as though they are saying something wise & meaningful
& like the cartoons it doesn't hold my attention
It felt amateur

It still annoys me that earthly creatures are being brought into Star Wars (Whales, Owls, Wolves, Cats, Horses)

Earthly creatures?

I understand that there will be people more in tune with the OT, other with the PT, others with CW etc... then there is the book readers (bad bad people :p)...

Star wars is told by many people in different mediums, we will never agree 100% with something, I bet there are people who dislike ESB or love Rey and Ben... etc. There is a little bit of SW for everyone.

All we have to do is respect someone elses opinions. Even thought they are wrong.

Im not the same guy I was 20 years ago. Im bitter, slower, my voice sounds like i'm drunk all the time, gained a lot of weight and get tired so easy. RD's portrail of ahsoka has all of these nuances that 40yr olds get plus the fact that almost everyone she cared about died. You really believe that she would still be snips after all that?
Fair points. I think some degree of change in character is natural and you're right if she was Snips it wouldn't be believable. But being older means different things for different people. As we age some things do get more difficult but theres a full spectrum of possibilities when it comes to being physically fit, how personalities change, how we deal with trauma/loss, the state of who we are, our current level of commitment to training to something like martial arts(or the Jedi Arts), growth in spiritual beliefs, sports or whatever other active lifestyles/hobbies we have. Certain people by nature of who they are, what they do as a profession and/or what's generally important to them are much more likely to have less signs of aging, slowing down and cynicism. Ahsoka is an expressive Jedi with a massive heart and she is fast. I don't see Dawsons version of her as an entirely believable progression based on all we know about her.

When it comes to stoicism in acting it should be used sparingly or along with emotion even in situations of depicting characters who've gone through trauma and loss. By itself a blank canvas, which is for the most part what we've had with Dawson, is just a blank canvas. She could be feeling anything...or nothing. Even when she "chose life," the pinnacle of that episode, she had almost zero expression on her face. But again just my thoughts.

Not at all.

I'm all for criticism, & I hesitate to engage with folks of a different opinion because I AM such a fan of the characters & Dave's work. I don't want to come across as trying to change anyone's mind or look as if I'm understanding something that someone else isn't. I think I have a fair amount of background knowledge of what's been going on in the various SW-related media, & sometimes like to share something if I think it'll add to the conversation, but never want to come across as looking down.

I guess my biggest pet peeve still is with the difference between criticism vs opinionated preference. IDK why I always go back to food metaphors, but if i don't like liver, & I mean I don't like the taste, the smell, the texture, the color, or anything, then you make the most exquisite liver dish ever created. I CANNOT CRITIQUE IT!

There is NOTHING you can do to make me like it & I'm doing us both a disservice by attempting to. You can wrap it in bacon, baste it in butter, put it on a bed of rice, & top it with caviar, all things that I'd enjoy, but if I hate liver, wrapping it in stuff I like isn't going to matter.

Folks that don't like the "cartoons", don't like anything after first 3/6 films, don't like Filoni, don't like Disney either personally or as an entity, they aren't going to like this, even if you wrap it in all the trappings & trimmings that we associate with Star Wars, & that is 100% completely & totally fine...

but that's opinion, not criticism.

Not meant toward or at anyone.
