Star Wars Ahsoka (tv series)

Not at all.

I'm all for criticism, & I hesitate to engage with folks of a different opinion because I AM such a fan of the characters & Dave's work. I don't want to come across as trying to change anyone's mind or look as if I'm understanding something that someone else isn't. I think I have a fair amount of background knowledge of what's been going on in the various SW-related media, & sometimes like to share something if I think it'll add to the conversation, but never want to come across as looking down.

I guess my biggest pet peeve still is with the difference between criticism vs opinionated preference. IDK why I always go back to food metaphors, but if i don't like liver, & I mean I don't like the taste, the smell, the texture, the color, or anything, then you make the most exquisite liver dish ever created. I CANNOT CRITIQUE IT!

There is NOTHING you can do to make me like it & I'm doing us both a disservice by attempting to. You can wrap it in bacon, baste it in butter, put it on a bed of rice, & top it with caviar, all things that I'd enjoy, but if I hate liver, wrapping it in stuff I like isn't going to matter.

Folks that don't like the "cartoons", don't like anything after first 3/6 films, don't like Filoni, don't like Disney either personally or as an entity, they aren't going to like this, even if you wrap it in all the trappings & trimmings that we associate with Star Wars, & that is 100% completely & totally fine...

but that's opinion, not criticism.

Not meant toward or at anyone.
Coincidently I ate Liver today and it was prety good. Everything else you said I agree with.

All we have to do is respect someone elses opinions. Even thought they are wrong.
"I believe in equality -- equality for everyone … no matter how stupid they are, or how much better I am than they are." -- Steve Martin, circa 1975.

An aside: Maybe it's just me, but Steve Martin (especially in the '70s and '80s), looks like the zany Mr. Hyde to Harrison Ford's reserved Dr. Jekyll -- only the hair color was different!

So I guess since the rumored scene was cut, is it safe to discuss it?

I can see why it would've been repetitive because I feel the scenes between Ahsoka & Anakin accomplished the same result. One of the reasons Ahsoka has been shown so aloof & stoic, IMO, is the guilt she's carried for walking away from Anakin. She's felt that her disillusionment with the Jedi Order carried over & exacerbated the rift between the Order & Anakin, & that if she'd stayed, maybe he wouldn't have fallen to the Dark Side.

To me, the scenes she replayed showed her the truth that Lucas had said himself-

Anakin was destined to fall because he was destined to be redeemed

Looking back at him with the knowledge & maturity that Ahsoka has now, she can see that nothing she could've done would've changed anything. I think we're going to see a much more recognizable Ahsoka in these last 3 episodes.

I understand that there will be people more in tune with the OT, other with the PT, others with CW etc... then there is the book readers (bad bad people :p)...
What about comic book readers???? (Some are pretty good)

Star wars is told by many people in different mediums, we will never agree 100% with something, I bet there are people who dislike ESB or love Rey and Ben... etc. There is a little bit of SW for everyone.
RoS > ESB (not really)

I'll say this. Fil has gotten good and shooting establishing shots and setting things up, but he needs to work on shooting the acting. These super long wide shots for all the acting scenes is not doing it any justice.

Why machine some sabers for a single episode when you can grab a few off of the shelves at the park?
Exactly, why spend more time and money than you have to, esp. when these shows being as expensive to produce as they are. It's a long standing practice for TV shows and movies to skimp on things where they won't matter or really be noticed. It's like how a lot screen used props, particularly for TV shows, were really cheap looking in person in the pre-HD days. Why spend a lot of time and effort (thus money) making something super sleek and pretty when nobody would be able to see how super sleek and pretty it is on screen?

Because they are crap?

The price of a proper hilt, the 200-300 usd + a proper board and the install is nothing to a production like this. I’ve seen hundreds of thousand dollars worth handmade potware wasted just because the director did not like them. Prices of these things don’t matter if quality matters.

Good for her that she developed good acting skills after learning all the wrong things to do while working on a Disney Channel sitcom. Eek!

So the scene that was rumored occurred on Mustafar. From all reports, it was filmed but cut.

In the scene, Ahsoka never left the Jedi Order & was with Kenobi when he confronted Anakin. In this "What If?" scenario, Anakin defeated Kenobi, but then fought Ahsoka & lost. In all that, he STILL became Vader, in both spirit & physically, so it showed Ahsoka she could let go of her guilt for 'abandoning' Anakin & showed her the truth of it always being his destiny.

As visually incredible as that could've been, I appreciate the restraint in achieving the same outcome with the scenes we got. Now she's free.

The same could be said if you really enjoyed liver and nothing anyone said would change your mind. If it all boils down to well "I just like it" or "I just hate it" with nothing backed up with evidence it's kind of pointless and having a critical discussion is difficult. On top of that trying to be objective about things we are passionate about is hard no matter where on the issues we stand. Some of us are kind of in the middle, enjoy some Disney/ Filoni content but not all and that makes it confusing to the polarized.

I agree about there being a lot of opinion here. Criticism isn't just saying "I don't like this" or "I like this," it's "here's what I think and here's the evidence to back it up."
