Star Wars Ahsoka (tv series)

So the actress who played young Ahsoka was great. I liked her better than Rosario Dawson. Her mannerisms, voice and even the way she moved/fought felt much more like Ahsoka. Hayden Christensen also felt more alive than in ROTS. Good episode even with the predictability of going along with the whales.

Yet... if you look at her performance, she's clearly studied RD's performance.

Yes that is necessary for continuity, it's what good actors do when they perform a previously established character. That's what sets her apart from Dawson (who is a talented actress but is clearly receiving poor direction). Bringing an animated character to live action is likely difficult and Ahsoka seems to be slightly more alive with each episode.

It seems that she was the same actress who played young Gamora in Infinity War. I think she did a great job too, although I think they could have used a prosthetic with longer montrals to show some passage of time between the two flashback scenes (and to reflect her changes in appearance in TCW).

It also goes to highlight that the Jedi seemed entirely happy using child soldiers, which seems quite harrowing when it's not in cartoon form.

Im not the same guy I was 20 years ago. Im bitter, slower, my voice sounds like i'm drunk all the time, gained a lot of weight and get tired so easy. RD's portrail of ahsoka has all of these nuances that 40yr olds get plus the fact that almost everyone she cared about died. You really believe that she would still be snips after all that?

First episode that drew me in

Obviously most of it was due to Anakin's role in the episode. It was cool seeing a lot of the Clone Wars scenes

Only real cringe moment was when the Rebel "Fleet" showed up.

In the previous episode they make such a point that the Republic was so against sending any ships because there was such a great need for them elsewhere and they could not divert resources, yet they wind up sending a "fleet" to deal with the resources they could not spare in the first place?

It just seemed like a lot of unnecessary drama that was needed as some filler

Just another example of plot as needed, when it is needed rather than making any kind of sense

Maybe I just liked the episode because it had some great sequences with Anakin rather than it actually moving the story forward

I think the thing that bugs me with a lot of the Filoni stuff is it feels like Star Wars is turning into full on fantasy, like dungeons and dragons in space

For me, the best part of the original trilogy was that while it had fantastical elements, they were more toned down and it was still generally rooted in sci-fi style action. Jedi and the force was part of the story, but did not overwhelm that aspect of it

Hence why the first couple of seasons of the Mandalorian were so appealing. It was finally a return in a way to the formula that made the OT so appealing to me. There was some mysticism and and fantasy, but it was not overblown

Same with Andor and Rogue one

Clone Wars CGI cartoon, Rebels, Ahsoka, and season 3 of Mandalorian are bringing in a lot of the pure fantasy that seems like it is from someone's D&D RPG set in the Star Wars universe. Space witches and wizards

I understand that some people may like that direction, it just does not resonate with me

Though I did notice a lot of people died from lightsaber slashes and by being impaled.

I thought that we had previously established that these were not mortal wounds?

And….

I never thought that I would ever say this…

Bring on a live action Clone Wars series of specials.

Hayden, Ewan and that darling young actress…

Yes please!
