Star Wars Ahsoka (tv series)

After Andor ya just can’t look this cheap or amateur anymore.

I watched the trailer for Rebel Moon after the first episode of this and it was like the difference between watching Paw Patrol followed by Across the Spiderverse.
I'm more negative on this show than most here and agree with most of your points, but isn't Rebel Moon a movie? Ahsoka likely has a large budget equal to Rebel Moon, but with 4 times the runtime. It feels like as the scope has gotten bigger with these shows they are stretching out their budget too much and losing focus on the consistent quality from episode to episode. They should have better cinematography though in either case, not sure what's going on there. Andor and early Mando both looked more polished. If it's related to the scope of the shows being different, I hope it's something they address.

In either case, I think the lighter tone makes sense for the show. I know some people want it to be more grounded and gritty like Andor, but I think others would be really disappointed if it wasn't at least somewhat like Rebels.

Every time I think about how different the Star Wars fan base is as a whole, I think of this Simpsons scene.

So, opinion & preferences aside, I was excited to check the credits of the episodes for one thing...

Based on the mystery Inquisitor's name, Marrok, there had been speculation of who his Identity could be, with the prevailing theory is they were bringing in the TFU character, Galen, aka Starkiller. Thoughts have been that his origins would be changed to reflect him as Vader's secret apprentice, but trained as an Inquisitor instead of how he was depicted in the games.

I thought that could be an interesting dynamic, having Anakin's & Vader's before & after apprentices face off.

Anyways, it's no confirmation, but Sam Witwer is indeed listed in the credits as providing "Additional Voices". I would really like to see an updated, Canon, version of Starkiller in live-action.

I saw someone mention that and I saw Sam was credited last episode. Super ballsy of them to do that if true, but I actually don't hate it. As you mention, the dynamic between the two apprentices is interesting.

Every time I see him though, I can't help but think of Rinzler from Tron: Legacy. Even down to holding a circular item. As far as henchmen go, I'm liking Marrok so far. He has a more reserved vibe than I expected.

Maybe it's just me, but when I saw the Inquisitor I saw a more slender body, smaller shoulders and neck. Thinking female under the helmet/suit.

It's definitely a man.

If they do it, which I hope they don't, then I would wish they don't go for a full power game version of him.

Late to this party, I have to wait until fridays to watch this since I don’t have a d+ account, and it’s been a tradition to watch it with friends

Oddly enough every single one of us was exhausted, worked late, started the watch party group later then normal

By the time we got to sabines speech, or where she was suppose to make a speech all of them were asleep except me

I struggled to stay up but that’s not because I was bored, but because I’m exhausted and everyone around me is out cold…

Anyway.. I have a few questions, again I saw it only once and i was half asleep

But this “new galaxy” thrawn is in… is this the “unknown regions” or can anyone make the jump to lightspeed there? I was so confused by this..

Baylan is also my favorite. But he brings up even more questions… original Star Wars officially posted that he “worked for thrawn” I figured thrawn sent him out of the unknown regions to do some kind of mission..

Now im under the impression Baylan and his apprentice have run around this galaxy the whole time… which I can’t stand if they were in this galaxy during the time of the OT…

I can’t really complain about anything besides being alittle confused and I can’t blame that totally on the show, but more on just being exhausted

Can anyone answer my questions?

From my understanding, the Unknown Regions are in the current galaxy. That's where Exegol &, in the old EU at least, where the Chiss were from. This new galaxy shown on the map is completely separate.

Speculation has been that, since the portal shown around the galaxy has purgill in its perimeter, then it could be either their original galaxy or one in their migratory route.

As for Baylan & where he's been, I just assumed that any of his activity didn't leave many witnesses, or anyone willing to get interrogated about contact with a Force wielder.

That brings me to another thought... The hang up on Yoda telling Luke that "the last of the Jedi will you be" or whatever the quote was. I just don't believe that anyone active during that time were either identifying or fully trained as Jedi, just like Ahsoka. In the OT alone, both Yoda & Kenobi either manipulated the truth or flat out lied to the hick that they'd hitched their only wagon to, just to use him as a tool to correct their personal failures. Telling him that he was their "ONLY HOPE" just built up his confidence & self-importance to get their job done.

Thanks for the input. I’m gonna re watch them next week, I take yoda’s quote serious when he says that to luke.. but if we have all these force users around during the time of the OT.. I guess they just don’t identify as Jedi anymore..

Still too soon for me to start b1txhing lol

Well said! Yes, my understanding is that the Unknown Regions are in the current galaxy beyond the Outer Rim. Apparently the ancient Sith used to live in the Unknown Regions, and they have been referenced a few times in the Mandoverse. The new Skeleton Crew show was also supposed to have the Unknown Regions involved somehow. I expected they'd play a big role in the eventual David Filoni movie, but now I'm wondering if this new galaxy will instead. In either case, it's a very good way to set up threats that were completely unknown. New races, bad guys, etc.

The REAL answer as to why Yoda said Luke was the last of the Jedi, is probably because that is what George intended at the time. The in-universe explanation can simply be that the remaining Jedi scattered, with many actively hiding their force abilities (like Cal Kestis for a time) and essentially going back to being regular citizens. Others just aren't doing enough to get noticed, galaxy-wide. There were supposed to be like 10,000 Jedi during Order 66 (or kaybe that was during their peak), so the fact that a few hundred could get away seems plausible.

I also don't know the exact rules on how force users can sense others. Yoda knew where Luke and Leia were and it seems could sense Luke, as he mentioned he had been watching him for a long time. But Vader never sensed Yoda or Obi-Wan and vice-versa, so I don't think Yoda could be sure if other Jedi had survived.

One other thing…
Ezra mentions their connection like a sister to him?

The rebels serious made me feel that it was more of a love interest then sister/best friend…

Curious why they went with that line…

I dunno, Sabine's reaction to that suggests she knows better.

I suspect that Ezra knew his message might/would be intercepted (how did he get a message out in the first place?), and tried not to get too private. Not even the Ghost crew might have known for sure if there was something going on there.

Its possible Filoni decided not to make it a love thing. He often repeats Georges sentiment thst Star Wars is a story about family. So maybe he feels a connection as family is better.

As for why Yoda says that Luke is the last of the Jedi, it's very simple. As Master of the Order, Yoda represents the official Jedi organization, and Luke is his apprentice. The term "Jedi" is nothing more than a title, and all the others spread throughout the galaxy are no longer formal members of the Order, which, ironically like the Sith, consisted for a time of only the two.
There could be a thousand semi-Jedi out there, but the real, concrete, formal Jedi Order consists of Yoda and Luke.

Not defending the bad writing but what if the Disney lightsaber that ran Sabine through was done so as to toy with her rather than end her. Like a cat toys with its catch. This of course would have to be conveyed or even out right spoken by the blank slate generic bad girl in blank slate generic costume which it was not. But that would give some creedence to why sabine survived setting up a payoff duel rematch.

Even better if generic blank slate bad girl had a line of dialog strait up stating she was not going to use the force to defeat her, just her own natural skill for the thrill of it.

Along the same lines, it seemed every laser blasted at the generic blank slate baddies was aimed directly at their lightsabers. So again, convey or out right state the blaster bolts are force drawn to their saber by use of the force. So simple, even for a bad writer.

After talking to a friend about the first two episodes, he is a huge fan of the cartoons so he understood most of what was going on. Yet he also stated how bad the writing is, some of the casting and acting was terrible, the pacing was long drawn out... I've not watched any of the cartoons yet we have a lot of mutual agreement on the major issues. How someone has had years to imagine a continuation of a series they created yet come up with something that seems rushed and bland is puzzling. So far the show comes off as a first draft script edited together with rehearsal footage.
