I can't tell if it's just an illusion from the flash or actually the semi-flat in the holes on the grip "wrap. If it is the different shade, how did you go about it?

Good eye.

Beautiful. Are the silver parts actually metal or is it all painted resin?

I love questions like that.
Ok, first, thanks for the compliments guys (Matt -- good to see you out there.).
Here's a run down on the build... The main body initially had a nice, finely textured surface, but that had to be sanded down as the resin--over all--was a tad "greasy".
I used Rust-o-leum Dark Grey Primer for the main gun body, and Ace Hardware's Wrought Iron Black (my favorite.) for the grip, cowl, and rear top. Initially, I was going to wet sand the top parts to a nice polished sheen, but the originals don't seem to be too overly shiney.
The holes in the grip were actually drawn in with pencil, the covered with a thin wash of a dark gray.
The "metal" parts are good old Alclad.
The LED on the top was undercoated with Plasti-Kote Sun Yellow, then brushed over wth Tamiya Clear Green. Regrettably, I had to go one extra coat to even out the green, and hence the brightness created by the yellow undercoat was slightly diminished.
The ID tag is molded into the kit. Also undercoated with the bright yellow, then sprayed with a bright red. To do the lettering, I brushed in a silver acrylic (Liquitex) and wiped off the excess.
The underlayment (don't know what else to call it) for the cowl--visible through the slots--was not supplied with the it. I had to glue in Evergreen brand "Batten Board" styrene panels.
I drilled large diameter holes deep into the handle and into the top front and top rear pieces. I filed these with lead shot, and closed it up by pouring more resin into the cavaties. As mentioned, it weights nearly two pounds.
Here's another look...
