Star trek: The next generation 25 anniversary

I can't think of one 1st season episode I really like. Season3 did begin to improve , and I watched every episode and loved TNG I gotta say, this Trek just hasn't held up well for me. I have always loved TOS and I can still watch those 60s episodes today. Just about any TNG episode is kinda hard to get through...

Oh, I can't wait to relive moments where the show forced us to accept Wesley Crusher in High Definition!

Episode: "Code of Honor".
Situation: Tasha Yar has been kidnapped, an epidemic is threatening millions. Picard makes a drastic choice.

*Wesley comes onto the bridge
Picard: Sit at ops next to Laforge.
Laforge: Sir?
Picard: Is the whole ship deaf? Sit down over there young man!

Episode: The Naked Now
Situation: A virus is on the loose and is making the whole crew act like idiots. Unfortunately, they were idiots before they got infected. Wesley fools the chief engineer to report to the bridge, and the assistant chief engineer to medical. This leaves no senior officer in charge of engineering so rather than calling the bridge and requesting confirmation and status, they just go with it.

Wesley: Wasn't that Picard ordering you to medical?
Shimoda: Which would leave no one here on duty.
Wesley: Why not me? I can watch things while you're not around.
*Shimoda pats Wesley on the shoulder and LEAVES HIM IN CHARGE.

I received my bluray from Amazon yesterday. Looking forward to watching it on my big screen this weekend! :thumbsup

Bought my copy today! :)

I don't care if it isn't exactly three episodes I would want to "show off" the glory of Bluray with (Inner Light is a great episode, but doesn't exactly have a lot of special effects)- I'm doing my part to ensure the full seven seasons get released. ;)

I haven't watched it yet (I'll probably get around to it tomorrow), but I did watch my dvd copy of Encounter at Farpoint today.

My God was the quality ever bad on my HDTV! I've watched vhs tapes that looked better! :eek

So I'm greatly looking forward to seeing the difference! :D

Got mine as well! Gonna make the wife watch with me. IShe asked me to take her to see some amnesia chick flick with Channing Tatum--so it's fair!

Oh, man. I just watched Encounter at Farpoint. The work done on this episode is just superb. Bring on all the seasons. I can take it. Also, I have something to say about that comment regarding Farpoint on the box/trailers.

"The Groundbreaking pilot that started it all!"

I kept looking to see what was groundbreaking about this episode because I remember back in the day that this episode didn't feel groundbreaking in the slightest. It wasn't until I payed very close attention on this new BluRay that I finally realized what this pilot did different than any other show out there.

IT'S THE FIRST EPISODE IN A SERIES, AND IT MANAGES TO HAVE A CLIP SHOW!

Normally clip shows occur in a series when the writers are on strike, someone doesn't have any good ideas, the budget is incredibly low or they just need to fill in one more episode. The ONLY time a clip show has ever worked was in the TOS episode "The Menagerie", and that episode had the benefit of not having the pilot be seen by the general audience before hand.

But having Riker sit down in front of a screen watching poorly edited clips from the beginning of the episode we've just watched not ten minutes ago is just inexcusable. You could have had Yar explain the whole situation off screen when they were on their way to the battle bridge. And to drag the episode even further, Riker isn't formally welcomed on the Enterprise for a whole seven minutes after he's been onboard. We get that clip show as mentioned earlier, the 3 minute long docking procedure that goes nowhere and is poorly written (all velocity zero means YOU'RE STAYING STILL!), and Picard being an a**hole about how much he loathes children.

It's really kind of a bummer that a show like this started out this way. Gene was given full control over this new series even though the whole reason why Star Trek was popular again was because of Star Trek IV, the movie that he was not in control over. TNG's first season is the epidemy of a lot of things going wrong in the first three episodes alone. Encounter at Farpoint was a pretty poor introduction, The Naked Now is an episode so stupid, sexist, and dumb that the writer pulled her name off of it, and Code of Honor is so racist that Gene himself actually fired the director.

Ugh, and what was it with Gene's idea of future uniforms being pajamas that leave nothing to the imagination anyway? Oh, Picard Maneuver, you will be a welcome sight.

I'VE WATCHED ABOUT TEN MINUTES SO FAR!

ZOMG! IT'S SO CLEAR!!! :eek:eek:eek

I can see the exterior shuttlebay markings! :confused

I can see the three individuals walking around the observation lounge at the end of the opening credits! :confused :confused

I can see just how much makeup Tasha Yar is actually wearing! And is it ever a lot!!! :confused :confused :confused

WOW!

It only begins to get grainy when I have the zoom set at maximum for BOTH my tv and Bluray player (which would be about 172%)!

Holy ****! :D :D :D

I love it! I'm going to buy every freaking season! Even the first two! :lol :D
