Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

I think there is a reason as to the casting choice they made for Kirk.

Pike is clearly intended to be the prime captain in this series. This being the case, I think they are being very deliberate in ensuring that the actor playing Kirk is no equal to Pike in either physicality or charisma.

Yeah, but unless he puts on 20+ pounds or so in 10 years and gets a bit of plastic surgery, it's more like Jim Carrey joined Starfleet! o_O

In other words, a beta male as opposed to Pike's Alpha.

That teaser is everything wrong with NuTrek in a 2 minute video.

That looks so dumb.

Waiting for the contrarians to respond “it looks like fun!”

I hate it when explorers forget how awesome exploring is.

It is amazing how much of their speeches are spent on pointing out the obvious.

“We explore…”

“We travel on this ship, through space…”

“We lather, rinse, and repeat…”

“We put on our pants, one leg at a time…”

“We keep our eyes open, so that we may see where we are going…”

I think all the script were written by Melllvar.

Kirk: "Alas, my ship, whom I love like a woman,is... disabled."
Spock: "Fascinating, Captain, and logical too. Yet we need some help."
Sulu: "Look, Captain. Melllvar will help us."

Lots of speeches start by stating the obvious. Like that Lincoln fellow who started that one speech by telling everyone how long ago the United States was founded.

To wit, albeit expectedly, therefore, this speech will introduce its initial start, at the beginning. Without further ado, I digress.
