Star Trek: Picard

Not as consistently crappy as Star Trek post-2009.
Also, in general, comparing things by their 'look' is unscientific and leads to poor conclusions.

2009 to Discovery is Star Wars-Trek, all bim-bam bash, trying to cover up fantasy sci-fi with their swing kicking a warp core back into alignment and timey wimey crystals rather than delivering a good story they are just trying to make everything "cool".

Hopefully the new Picard series will be a return to form of story over style.

Man with the state Trek is in now, I wish we could go back to that time.

It was filled with so much joy and hope for the future of the Franchise

In the meantime we can all enjoy again those beautiful shots of the Enterprise refit on the big screen.

Don't forget we do have a new movie coming out. With Bill Shatner playing a CGI restored Kirk, it should be interesting to say the least.

Agreed, Star Trek was so much more optimistic and interested in sci-fi concepts and good escapist storytelling. From the brief glimpse I took into the Kurtzman/Abrams idea of Trek, it seems to either want to be cool explosions or follow in the current trend of dark and edgy like Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, Ozark.
That's why people are enjoying The Orville, it's an escapist sci-fi series with a more optimistic outlook that is a welcome change from the same dark, gloomy trend that seems to be the benchmark for what is perceived to be "good" TV these days.
If someone isn't being a d@#k to another person, cheating, lying, trying to sleep with or kill them then execs think people wont watch it.
TV in these strange political times needs to be an escape from the darker tone of life we are constantly fed through the news.
We need the positive role models that Trek used to give us, strong, honest, moral leaders, scientists, engineers.

Where are the Picards, Janeways, Datas, Trips, Dax, Torres, LaForges, Spocks, Odos, Archers to inspire the next generation and give hope and optimism for our present and future?

A scientific way is ok, but not in a 80's to 90's ST series way. TNG is the most overrated series ever. This show was carried by Stewart alone and his legendary facepalm is a symbol of 80% of the scripts that made an episode. There was so much really crappy stuff in TNG, DS9 and Voyager that some average episodes look great in comparison.

“BLASHEMY!!!!

I prefer that all the starships of the heavens have wall-to-wall carpet and be adorned with artwork depicting starfields and nebulae...essentially the same view that crewmen would have if they stepped to the right or left and looked out of a window.

YES!!! I have been so hoping this would happen for the 40th anniversary!! This has slowly become my favorite Trek film and I have never seen it on the BIG screen.

There is still the founding of the federation with Archer and his crew that was never fully explored because Paramount decided to cancel Enterprise to give us Pew-Pew Abrams Trek with it's "punch it", R2D2 cameo, Khan retread, swing kicking warp core and Discovery idea of Star Trek.

If anything deserves a Picard facepalm it's these poor excuses for what the future of the franchise islooking to be.
