Star Trek Into Darkness (Pre-release)

So does anyone strongly believe that Cumberbatch will play this 'John Harrison'? Or do you believe its a PR thing to throw fans off, like how some films go under a different name while in production?

*Trying to get thread back on track:lol

I'm thinking it may be a tactic. By the description of his character and what he's supposed to be up to, and how he manipulates Kirk, it would be a tighter story arc if he were Chris Pike.

Agreed. I think what they could have done is given Comby's character the alias of JH in the film to hide who he really is from Kirk and Company and he gets a big reveal as to who he is sometime during the film.

It would certainly raise the stakes if JH was indeed Khan, because than he wouldn't be lacking the very thing that caused the original Khan's downfall in Star Trek II, which was his lack of Starfleet experience. If JH were to commandeer a Federation ship, he'll probably know to change the prefix code.

This would be the second time a dying man was granted a wish by Mr. Abrams and his team. The gentleman who was granted a single line speaking role in the first film was was terminal. I don't recall the details much beyond that but I have to say that no matter how you feel about the product they put out I think this helps to prove that they are in touch with their own humanity.

Well Said. And that was Randy Pausch a professor at Carnegie Mellon. His speech The Last Lecture: Achieving Your Childhood Dreams become famous worldwide through that YouTube clip. But in his case, it was Abrams who came to know about Randy's condition and that he was a Star Trek fan, thus offered him a role on the set of Star Trek.

This movie supposedly takes place six months after the last movie so if it is Khan there can't be much of a history between Kirk and Nu Khan.

I'm beginning to wonder where or who the "vengeance" is supposed to be directed towards. Why would anyone who is trying to get vengeance on Kirk blow up London? If anything I would think they would blow up a farm in Ohio or something. Unless Kirk's mother lives in London?

I don't think JH/Khan wants vengeance on Kirk.

Yeah the gist I get us he is pissed at Starfleet/The Federation or a part thereof. I think his obvious super abilities and the cry-like tubes shown in the trailer continues to hint he and others are augments.. And they're pissed. :)

Benedict is anti-Starfleet and all those associated with...that's my take on the info that's out there.

Doesn't the 9 minute intro show JH as a doctor in London?

I guess it all starts there?
Who the heck knows.:facepalm

When I posted earlier that it would be good drama if the villian turned out to be Chris Pike, I MEANT to say, Robert April! (Someone walked into my office and I had to type and hit send pretty quick) :lol

That's what I was thinking as well. I just know how Hollywood loves to personalize things and I feared that the vengeance was targeted at Kirk.

John Harrison is actually "Johnny". That kid on the side of the road in the last Star Trek movie. He's pissed at kirk for not giving him a ride.
