Star Trek Into Darkness (Pre-release)

When you see what the actual designers over at Lego do for complex sets, it makes this Enterprise set look like mega blocks.

KRE-O is some kind of budget alternative, right? So that makes sense. My kid has an Optimus Prime KRE-O set that actually isn't too bad, but it's a long way from one of the big LEGO blowouts.

Doesn't matter if its Lego or some knockoff, still doesnt change the fact that it won't be an accurate interpretation of the enterprise.

It hardly has a neck Darth. Just because it won't be 100% accurate doesn't mean they can't try to make it as accurate as possible with what they've got.

Yes because the Enterprise having a neck in a kid's building toy is completely integral for the success of the film. :rolleyes

Only those who want to stick to discussing the new Star Trek movie can cross. Anyone else who wants to talk other things Star Trek can create it in new forum post

And what was the point of discussing a toy again?

Wait... so now the inaccuracy of a freakin' Lego knockoff toy is being used to question the quality of the film?

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight....

Because those original Kenner Star Wars toys were *SOOOO* accurate to what was in the movie.

This topic is so far off the rails of sanity that it's actually making a submerged Enterprise seem pretty logical by comparison... I'm now even more optimistic for this film! haha

No. I made a point a few pages ago how the toy line for the last movie was pretty terrible. The figures especially since the only ones that didn't share the exact same body were Prime Spock, Uhura and Nero. The middle range figures were hilarious since the uniforms weren't a part of the body mold. If you were to remove the uniforms, it would show each characters' bodies as being so ripped it would make Arnold proud.

The toy line was so poorly received that it never got released the second line, which rendered many of the bigger toy sets incomplete since each figure comes with a set piece.

Now with this.... thing, the toyline is off to a mediocre start.

It's a toy that's relevant to the film and is going to be released along side the film. And sometimes toys do reveal plot details that aren't evident in any other marketing

OMG, OMG...so the Enterprise may open up like a garbage can in the new film?! O M G !

Yes and it is clear that the ENTIRE saucer section represents the bridge itself! :eek

Wait... I thought they scaled UP the Enterprise for the new film. :unsure

Unless of course everyone is now 100 feet tall or something.

Back to the actual movie being discussed...

Four New Star Trek Into Darkness Images, New Plot Details - Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

And the relevant quote:
UPDATE: The actual article in the magazine contains this new description of the film’s plot premise. It’s a slight advance on the old news:

with Earth under terrorist attack from Benedict Cumberbatch’s ex-Starfleet employee John Harrison, Kirk is this time forced into a rash decision that breaks a critical Starfleet command, puts his crew in danger & costs him his captain’s chair. Now out of uniform and dressed down in space civvies of black leather jackets and boots, our three heroes have separated from the Enterprise and headed off on a mission to try and rectify his mistake…

Wait... so after using the first film to fast-trak him from arrogant cadet to unqualified captain, JJ's gonna have him lose that job???
And I'm guessing all will be forgiven and he'll be back to captain by the end? Cadet to captain, fired and back to captain in just 2 movies?:rolleyes
