Star Trek Into Darkness (Pre-release)

We're all getting old. No more fighting - a good "back in my day" will suffice.

You got it:

"Back in my day, Star Trek was narratively constrained to expound its dramatic and thematic content almost exclusively through dialogue and now I'm either incapable or unwilling to participate with a story that delivers unspoken themes cinematically through visuals and structured character drama.

And if you don't agree, you're as stupid as it is.
Give me a bridge scene to wrap everything up and tell me exactly what I'm supposed to think!"

That's what it tends to sound like to me. :lol

Your avatar and sig are both so angry looking it makes me scared to reply.

anyone get the impression this movie is simply a big set of explosions and crashes?

I do like Benedict cumberbatch, a good old english villian is always a good bet for some success, but much of it looks like they've taken the "gritty" and "dark" tones too far.

Hehe. Blue-Cat-Hat made the point that he looks like he's chewing bubblegum.

He's looking like Commander Garth more and more.

But this trailer finally made me realize one of the things that bothers me about these new movies, something TOS avoided - they show Earth WAY TOO MUCH. I always liked the fact that TOS left Earth up to your imagination - it looks like we'll practically get to tour the planet in this new movie.

I can't help but wonder if Kirk's brother is brought back - we all know Robert (Robbie) Kirk dies on a distant world in TOS - but that's probably out the window now. He could be utilized in this universe in some interesting way. Then again, that requires well written scenes with dialogue that goes beyond cheap one liners. That's probably too much to ask for.

And I counted at least 5 costume changes in this trailer - gotta get more toys on the shelf - the one redeeming thing is when they release the new crap toys someone seems to put out some cool, new TOS toys as well.

Was Robert older or younger? I can't recall, but if he's younger he doesn't exist...
