If the “Discovery” writers remade Spock’s death scene in “The Wrath Of Khan”:

A countdown clock starts at counting down from 3 minutes on the main view screen on the bridge.

Kirk: “Scotty! We need speed in three minutes or we’re all dead!”

Uhura: “No response sir...”

Kirk: “Mr. Sulu...get us out of here—best possible speed!”

Spock rises slowly from his chair with tears welling up in his eyes and calls out to the bridge crew.

Spock: “Admiral—I must sacrifice myself to fix the warp drive and save the ship. This is why I’m here. This is why the Red Angel saved me. Michael always taught me that the needs of the many outweighs the needs of the few.”

Kirk: “Everyone stop what you are doing and stand at attention and put all of your eyes on Captain Spock!”

Spock then goes to each person on the bridge and shares fond memories with each of them and specifically reminds each of them of how important he had been in each of their lives. He then allows each of them in turn to tell him how they are lost without him and how ironic it is that he, a Vulcan, has taught them how to be human. Tears continue to well up in Spock’s eyes.

Spock: “I love you all. Goodbye”.

Spock then exits the bridge.

Kirk: “I wish I had met this ‘Michael’. Of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, she sounds the most....human.”

Spock then walks to the docking port behind the bridge where Sarek and Amanda, after hearing he is about to die, have miraculously travelled to the Enterprise and wait for him. Beneath tears, Sarek apologizes for everything he has done and how painful it must have been for Spock to have had him as a father. Amanda is reassured by Spock that he always loved her at least 97.6% more than he loved Sarek. Now wiping away tears from his cheeks, Spock takes the elevator down a few decks where he exits to take a service ladder the rest of the way to engineering.

Before he opens the hatch to the ladder, he is approached by Sybok who, also having learned of Spock’s impending demise, has travelled to the ship. Both exchange memories and tears fall. Sybok also tells Spock that it was he who put Sybok on his path and taught him how to love. Spock then opens the hatch and descends down the ladder to engineering.

Upon arriving in engineering all personnel immediately stop their attempts to repair the Enterprise and stand at attention. Again, one by one, Spock approaches each of them and through tears allows them to tell him how important he has been in all of their lives and how lost they were before they met him.

Spock: “I love you all.”

Spock then approaches McCoy. The two immediately embrace each other, weeping. McCoy then recounts every argument they ever had and how he was misguided and foolish in each instance and asks for Spock’s forgiveness.

McCoy: “You are the center of my universe, Spock. I love you as a brother.”

Spock: “I know. It’s only logical. Everything you are is because of me.”

Spock then nerve pinches McCoy and applies a mind meld to McCoy’s face.

Spock then turns to the unconscious Scotty and takes his gloves. He then shakes Scotty awake so that Scotty may also tell Spock how important he was to him and how he will never be the same without him.

Spock then steps onto the rotating platform leading into the deadly intermix chamber and looks up at the countdown clock.

The countdown clock reads: 2:55

5 seconds have passed since the countdown began on the bridge.

THE END

To be continued in Star Trek III....

"He then shakes Scotty awake so that Scotty may also tell Spock how important he was to him and how he will never be the same without him."

That sums it all up the best.

The ONLY thing missing from your wonderful version of what WOULD be if Discovery writers and producers did this, was the lack of reverence and references to Michael.

So a friend finally convinced me to watch the 2nd season... He said it gets better. Ummm ya...

They replaced the literal magical pixie dust with an "Angel". The angel turns out to be a god power granting super-suit. It is also a time machine and a teleporter.

The main story about stopping a secret corrupt government spy organization that turns out to be run by (somewhat) self-aware artificial intelligence. It has no real purpose in the plot other than providing a generic enemy to fight against.

The Klinkon side story that is so out of place, that each time it was on screen you had to remember that you didn't accidentally switch over to a show about vampire societies with high-school level power struggles.

Most of the episodes are filled with lots of falsely tense stop-and-talk scenes. Lke the episode where they are half-stuck in neverland, literal magic pixie dust land, the mycellium network and have to get out in two minutes or everyone on-board will die. Somehow those minutes are extended simply by having a Burnham yell "Were on our way" multiple times into the comms, so they can have a ten minute chat about how to save some character we already forgot even existed.

Saru was the only redeeming character.

Those last two in your picture say "dwarven". All the Human blades in that picture look nearly identical apart from size and minor detailing.

TNG-VOY there were 19 different bladed Klingon weapons presented on screen. 20 if you count Kahless' personal bat'leth as unique. Variety was never a problem.

Klingon blade weapons

The problem with the STD bat'leth is that it's unwieldy, unbalanced and it looks like random overly-detailed insect parts busily glued together. The hook looks like a prime candidate for stabbing the user instead of the enemy. A very inelegant and thoughtless design. I got a good chuckle out of the prop designer calling it "a piece of art".

The STD bat'leth(it's really not) is atrocious and a frakking joke. It has nothing to do with a bat'leth. Stupid, stupid people ‍♂️

this thread is full of neckbeards - can't we just enjoy discovery for what it is?

A flaming bag of turd? :p

IMHO I'm finding there is quite a divide between fans who have been able to embrace ST: D and enjoy it, and those who can't.

I've been able to thoroughly enjoy ST: D, so has my wife. Are there things I would have done differently? Sure. I'm not 100% happy with the series so far but overall I've found that it's high quality. It certainly isn't your daddy's Star Trek, but I'm of the belief that most people who are complaining, would have found something to complain about anyway even if the show WAS perfect. Instead of enjoying what is a very good series, they're only too happy to spend their time stroking their beards, clucking their tongues and lamenting "What is to be done with this Star Trek Discovery???".

I'm not even going to give it a try. I know it's going to suck.

I'm not going to give it a try because I refuse to pay for All Abscess. If the majority of the fan reviews for the season turn out good I will then buy it on DVD/BlueRay.

I wouldn't even if it was on broadcast TV. I have no love for TNG anyhow, but I have no trust whatsoever in CBS so... nope, not even giving it a chance.

Only Tom Cruise could make a Star Trek show that the majority likes, because that is a real impossible mission.

The ST universe is full of canon and lots of this canon is far far away from being good but the show runners have to respect it. They should have pressed the reset button and start all over again. Maybe with some creative aliens and not Greeks, Romans and Mongols in space.

Then just call it something other than Star Trek.

TNG,DS9,STV & ST-E all managed to produce stories in that complicated universe, not without a couple of miss steps but they did adhere to what had been established before and built upon it.

Another option would be to jump forward a century or two and tell stories in that era, with all the new aliens and technobabble.

It is a given that writing stores for such a complicated universe is tough, but it can be done if they want to do it, others have done so.
