Star Lord trench coat

Me and my friends are planning on cosplaying as the Guardians of the Galaxy to this years SDCC but since I have no real skill in sewing or making clothes at all, I was wondering if anyone was considering trying to put together the red leather trench coat Star Lord is wearing in the film. I know not many photos are available right now but I figured it would be best to try to find one early than wait until last minute.

For the long coat I have been looking at modifying a "devil may cry" red trench coat if I can find one. I have been googling for red trench coats and it keeps coming up. I haven't found one for purchase that I like though.

I think the red long coat is actually cloth and not leather. I have seen a couple places with the shorter red leather Star Lord Jacket.

The long coat can be bought on Ebay and adjusted and I found a couple while searching DMC Dante full length coats. It depends how far you want to go with it though. It looks to me (and I could be wrong), that the short coat is leather, and pretty badass, but the full length coat is cloth.

In the movie trailer there is about one second where Peter is wearing the helmet and crawling out of something (I'm guessing the crashed remains of the ship he's seen flying) and he's wearing the long coat. I'm only guessing, but I think that the only scenes with the helmet will be with the long coat as well.

Has anyone grabbed that picture or others for the long coat though? I found some toy pictures, but nothing for the back of the coat, or even verification of the material.

Edit:

I may have been wrong though.

_99218_Medium.jpg This is the only close up of the material. It looks like it could be leather or waterproof material, I can't tell!

Is that site - fjackets.com okay? anyone had experience with them? I can't find much info on them and some of the pictures seem to be taken from other sites.

I'd definitely be interested in getting the trench coat if someone starts producing them.

working on the red trench coat for NYCC... crazy amount of detail.

will try and take pics to post here by the end of the week.

Hi everyone! That long coat is most definitely leather...it better be, because I just bought a full hide dyed in he exact color as what's seen in the movie. Now the fun part....laying my doctor who or Captain Jack trenches down to chalk-line-out some kind of pattern. Speaking of which, does anyone have access to a trench coat pattern?

Too much for fake leather.

Agreed. I'm making my own fake leather trench coat and its way cheaper. I spent about $30 on flat fold pieces of vinyl and modified Simplicity pattern 5386. I think I've avoided wasting material well enough to make the whole thing and a vest (though that's just a single layer and you may want to line it) and I'm about 6'3". If you can put in the work, even if you get more material to be safe and don't already have all of the other things you need, I'm sure you could make something at least as good as cosplaysky for much cheaper.

In my experience cosplaysky has been good. I think part of that for me is that i can do everything on a project but fabric work, if any only minimal.

They got the look down, but yeah, like others said, you don't want to go with fake leather for that price. leathersclub price is currently $220 for real leather.
Oh, I definitely wasn't planning on buying it at all, I just saw someone ask about the trench coat so I thought I'd post.

Has anyone actually seen the leathersclub one in person, though? They're selling screencaps of the movie at the moment, and I couldn't buy that sight unseen.

Not yet, last I spoke with them they said they were still working on the final design. I plan on getting in contact again for an update.

Have you purchased from leathersclub before? Can't find any recent reviews for them from searching.
