Star Blazers - Space Battleship Yamato live action movie

If you don't speak or read japanese, I think you're out of luck. Audio is japanese, and the subs are too. Probably have to wait for an HK rip to find it's way to the bay.
 
in my experience, once the DVD is released in japan, its only going to be 48 hours before some fansub group or another rips, subs, and uploads the thing online via torrents....and i cant wait.
 
I think it depends HEAVILY on the work. This would probably get up there pretty quickly, but other older stuff (like, you know, the original Yamato) take forever to get decent subs. There's a group that did Fang of the Sun Dougram and they took something like a year to get out all the episodes (although it's a long series, and it took forever for the DVDs to be released anyway).
 
There is already a push for a US DVD release with subs.

There are plenty of other Yamato titles available including a recent "Yamato revival" - CGI Heavy but still Anime.

There is Region Free software to convert for Computer use - so the region 2 will work. But a US release will come. The question is how long? :cry

You'd think this movie would be all over the usual torrent places, but it's not. Sucker Punch sure but not Yamato. Who knows why.

The film owners are watching with careful eye and file immediate complaints whenever content appears via torrents or film segments appear linked in various sites. They launch agressive campaigns to bring the listings to a hault. Many of the sites that merely mirror content with streaming video segments are hit with immediate complaints and the links to video are severed quickly. It will be a simple and relatively short wait to get a US region 1 release or subbed version via DVD.

Oh yeah ... and SONY is all over this franchise. SONY will complicate everything!!

It opened as a No. 1 Box Office hit. Then it fizzled out. I guess people who saw it told their friends .... don't waste your money .... maybe don't even bother to wait for the video. Don't suffer. Don't see it. .... PLEASE SONY prove me wrong !!! SHOW us your film, ...your effects!!! ... YOUR PROPS !!!

I don't know if that means the MOVIE is sooo good that they want exclusive rights OR that the acting and story are so flat - they want the movie to APPEAR to be too good for anyone to wait. A bad film plumits in DVD sales once word gets out. Pre-orders and anticipation generates a certain interest on its own right. They will loose that if it is a bad film and people get it through downloads. Maybe they are triyng to keep it hush hush to spring a flat film with no story - ...but even if the story and acting are BAD ... the EFX and battlescenes are enough for the film to be a hit ... looks great in a moment of trailer flashes and FX events. :cry JUST release the film to Region 1 !!!!

How many films are better in the trailer - than watching the whole film? :confused

I will like the film just to see the effects. I WANT to see the Yamato fire the main gun and blow stuff up. I want to see the dark hero launch into space in the COZMO Zero. I want to see massive ALIEN Armadas blowing away the fleet only to have a couple of fighters and a three hundred year old battleship blow the GAMiLON out of them! :love
