Star Blazers - Space Battleship Yamato live action movie

I love the design of the jackets, but not the material. Why did they have to be leather (ish?)? Not at all practical. They even have the engineer unzipping the darn thing, it's so hot.

But yeah, I'm liking this!

This was my soap opera when I was about 5 years old. Would be nice to have a subtitled version........

You can find subs of the TV series on ebay and such. Translation isn't perfect, but it gives you a pretty good gist of things. But yeah, definitely hoping this movie gets subbed one way or another.

Wooooooooooooahhhhhhhhhhhhh Sweet.... If only they could do a Live Action MS Gundam 0079 Trilogy or movie of this quality.....

I hope we at least get a subtitled theater version!!!

Props????????? lol

There was a live action Gundam movie made years ago, either late 80s or early 90s but it wasn't very good from what I've read. I'm sure if you dug around a little you could find the title for the live action Gundam movie.

Even if the DVD comes out only in Japanese, I'll get it !!!!!!

But since some DVD's have subtitles for Swahili, can't see why we can't get it with subtitles in English :lol

I wonder if ANYONE knows if this is being released in the US/Europe in English ?

I coincidentally watched the first dozen or so episodes of the original series a couple of weeks ago. I just LOVE how they kept the original music too :)

It's G-Savior. I've heard it's terrible, too. It also has an entirely Canadian cast and is done entirely in English. You can find clips of it on Youtube. It looks pretty lame. Lousy animation (very "mid-90s TV-grade CGI"), and pretty terrible acting.

Oh, there'll be a DVD version with English subtitles, whether it's official or a Hong Kong bootleg. The question is more whether the subtitles will be worth a damn, or whether they'll be "bad Engrish."

Yeah, I've seen it, its bleh. The mobile suit and cockpit are cool, but thats about it. I just mean, one of this quality and care put into it would be amazing.

I just finished Star Blazers Season 2 and the New Voyages movie, pretty cool.

How is the movie doing? I heard the guy who originally played Desslar/Desslok was doing the voice for the new movie. Are the Gamilans bugs now instead of blue people lol?

At starblazers.com they said it was previewed in LA once. Also looking at a lot of displays the wording is in English. Makes me think there is a plan..

I can't for the life of me understand why they did not release this world-wide.

Not as if the original series didn't have a following outside Japan.

And not in the US only of course, it was / is widely popular in Europe too. I used to watch it in the '70's, in Italian no less, as in those days we had no cable, local TV sucked big time (all 1 state channel of it :lol), so all our TV used to be a dozen or so channels received from Italy via antenna.

I liked the cartoons when I was little. I couldn't take 1 minute of the stuff on AIC's website though.

Sorry.... Just not very interested by it now.... :(

The art in the cartoon hasn't aged particularly well, unlike some later shows like Gundam 0079 and the original Macross. That said, the story is still pretty badass.

Just read this on another forum. No idea how accurate it is

"It had a screening for potential buyers and guests at the American Film Market (AFM) tradeshow in Santa Monica (CA) a couple of weeks ago.

Haven't heard if it got picked up or not."

Anyone know someone who could have been at the tradeshow?
