Star Blazers - Space Battleship Yamato live action movie

i must admit, the fact they've actually gone as far as copying the costumes, making the actors (captain of ship) look like the anime original shows a certain eye for detail.

the brief cg clip of the yamato opening up with her secondary armament as well was cool.

awaiting it with interest

omg, omg, OMG !!!! This looks like it could be a fantastic movie for us early 40's folks. (I watched it before heading off to high school in the mornings)

I wonder if they will stay true to the original story line? Would love to see a good Desslok and the ships of the EDF !!

looks pretty good..I love this series..

season 1 and 2 are great..never really saw the third as the voices were different and well..I like the original voices..

I was reaaaal young when I used to watch the original dubbed version on TV, so it'll be hard getting used to the Japanese voices and all, but man... this looks really exciting.

Oh thank god. I thought this was going to be about the Hollywood "Starblazers" adaptation that's supposedly been in development hell forever (and may it stay there).

Live Action Star Blazers.

from animenewsnetwork.com

"The original 1974 anime recounted the voyages of the World War II battleship Yamato after it is resurrected as a space-faring ship to fend off alien threats to Earth. The new Uchuu Senkan Yamato Fukkatsu-hen (Space Battleship Yamato: Rebirth Chapter) film sequel with computer-animated battle sequences will open on December 12 as the first Yamato theatrical film in 26 years. It follows the original hero Susumu Kodai and his family as they lead a fleet from Earth after the planet is threatened by a black hole.

A separate live-action film remake by director Takashi Yamazaki (Returner, Always: Sunset on Third Street, Ballad) will feature SMAP band member Takuya Kimura (Howl's Moving Castle's Howl) and Meisa Kuroki (Vexille - 2077 Isolation of Japan's Vexille, Crows Zero's Luca) as the main characters Susumu and Yuki, respectively. "

One of my all-time favourite animated series. Can't wait for this. Well, I guess I'll have to at this point. CGI sequences look great....

I think the real question here is this -

Yamato vs Super Star Destroyer

Oh god, had to happen. All right, I'll bite. Yamato's wave motion gun is pretty bloody powerful, but it's hard to imagine her defeating an 11-mile-long Executor-class command ship.

However she does have endless self-repair capacity, so the command ship couldn't defeat her, either. I call stalemate. :)

For me, the real question is this: will we get a new 1/350 kit, with all the more realistic live-action movie detail?
