Star Blazers - Space Battleship Yamato live action movie

It could have made it worse sure, but Japanese goodies has always been tough to get over here in a timely fashion.

Of course, I now expect an American remake announced any day now.

Space Battleship Arizona!

I always thought if we did it we should have the three biggest battleships in history:Yamato,Arizona, and Bismarck and have them together as a fleet.

Star Blazers is what got me into anime full time as unlike American "cartoons" pretty much the whole crew of the Yamato died, hell they blew the ship up at the end-that kind of thing would leave most American comic fans going :confused

BTW for those who don't follow anime here's a heads up on the story..

Galaxy Express 999 and the Harlock series are all set in pretty much the same universe-just they take place years later,earth...hasn't done so well to put it mildly.

A few years ago Leiji Matsumoto did a new GE 999 manga and at one point you see the Arcadia and Yamato parked side by side (if I remember they built another one after the first got blown up) so that will give you an idea on how long reaching these series are.

Macross AKA Robotec is another long running series that helped make me an anime fanatic :thumbsup

rec'd my subtitled DVD today and watched it. Not a bad movie. Though some of the wording seemed out of place (translation problems?) most of the movie held pretty true to the TV series although squeezed into just a 2+ hour movie.

The Gamalons were disappointing as was Desslok.

The ship designs and original music way more than made up for that though. Can't wait for an official dubbed version on blu-ray.

Can someone get me the link to purchase the dubbed Yamato Movie. I need the DVD version because BLUERAY won't let me screen cap the pics for prop references. I am trying to work up the prop side arm

UNLESS ... someone can screen cap the heck out of all the different angles of the pistol.

I assume there will be an issue from Books Nippan - ART of Space Batttleship Yamato - but I don't know. Sooner I have the pics - the sooner the prop gets dropped in RTV. :love

Ooops never mind - Freebay EXPRESS - - got it.

I take it you mean "biggest" as in the most renowned, rather than actual size... that list would be Yamato, Musashi, and New Jersey. Bismark was a bit smaller than the Iowa class ships.

Maybe he was talkimg about ships that had been sunk?? I 'm upto like 10 times watched.. There is some English in the movie ;)

I've never been a fan of dubbing but I really enjoyed the subtitled BR rip I saw. Awesome movie. Can't wait for an official US release on BR.

Got mine too and watched it late last week.

100% agree with all the above.

I must add that the region 0 DVD I got was impressive :lol. Fantastic packaging, cover box, inside printed image on DVD etc, so nice to have :thumbsup

I have on my pc the BR ripped version with English subtitles so its out there for sure. :thumbsup

Dude, that is what EVERYBODY ELSE else has been working very hard to NOT ACTUALLY SAY. You know...like...because ACTUALLY ADMITTING IT OUT LOUD IS SUCH A BAD IDEA AROUND HERE.

Sheesh, some mothers do 'ave em, eh? :p

You don't have a location on your screen name, Master Boda. Do you mean 8 December or are you in the US? Hoping you are in the US and mean 12 August, lol.
