ST:TMP Klingon costume pics and info...

Ok, well, I am interested in those Klingons, too, to a lesser degree; as those costumes were based on the original TMP costumes right?...

Here I am about 20 years ago(Yikes! Has it been that long?) at makeup Effects of Arizona working on motion picture version Klingon head appliances. Trying to trim off the edge juuuust right.

Here's a pic I found of the application of the Klingon makeup I did so very long ago... I know it's pretty crude... This was 1982, I believe... I was 13, my second foam latex appliance.

Thanks. It came together a little better than seen above, but still crude. I always wanted to redo it right.

I just asked this on TPZ too, but are we sure that the TMP Klingons had the back plates seen on the costumes, as seen in the later films? Hard to see in the movie itself, but one shot (the last shot during assimilation) where the electrical bolts are hitting the bridge, there are several Klingons standing with backs toward the camera, and I can't tell for sure, but it looks like no plates???

I'm too lazy to run for the DVD right now, but I know the 1979 12" action figure had them.

Still cool stuff! Got any better pics of the finished product?

Unfortunately no...and let that be a lesson to us all. Always get pics of things you work on for your records. I frequently had a "I'll go back and get pictures another day" attitude. So much I worked on that I don't have documented.

Greetings members,

I noticed the discussion on Klingon Warrior costuming. In particular which style of service boots are desired over another and the proper color of leather used for the service vest. I have included an overall image of my uniform with some detailed images of my version of the service boots. I stand ready to answer any questions or comments that you may produce.

Ghost Host,

I am not certain what happened. I shall try once more. As you can see, I prefer a SuvwI', Warrior appearance from TNG/DS9 and later rather than TMP. However, it was this film which paved the way to how we regard Imperial Klingons. I would very much be interested if you were to develop this style of ridges. As your Avatar portrays.

Ghost Host,

Once more as the attachments seem to be having trouble connecting.
