Thanks Jamie! I have lots of good stories to go along with this 2-day trip
When I went to Mansfield Reformatory I noticed that in their props display case they had an incorrect "tin" from Red's scene under the tree. I asked to see the person in charge of taking donations, and I was soon talking with a great guy from the prison named Micheal. I donated a movie accurate tin for the display case (complete with plastic bag, letter and money envelope) and signed the release forms. Mike then shared with me his vision for the prop room that was a work in progress at the prison. A fully dedicated room just for Shawshank props! I didn't know it at the time, but Mike ended up being our tour guide for the next tour. Mike pointed out all of the little Shawshank tidbits for us along the way, even though we weren't on the actual "Hollywood" tour. Really cool guy!!
