SS landspeeder from "5-25-77"

Wasili, your lack of response is pathetic.

You have done nothing but string me along, and I will be sure to tell everyone about my experiences here.

I want my kit - right ****ing now. No more stalls and cryptic copyright excuses. There are people out there that actually deliver what they promise.

You sir, are not one of them. In my opinion, you are a blight on this hobby.

Quit stalling. NOW.

Wasili - you out there?

Has this entire "pre-pay for my latest bauble" culture gone to crap lately, or what?!

I am trying to take another member's place for this speeder and it's all worked out except one thing.....Wasili won't contact me directly to verify that the other guy paid what he says he paid...........so until he does, I can't send the other fella his money. The communication end of things is pretty insane really. :(

Dave

Are you sure you want into this situation? :confused

I'm not sure what the other guy ordered, but in my case Wasili took half of the total payment (not including shipping) as a down payment.

Still, I can see why you'd want Wasili to confirm the amount paid before you forward the money.

Good luck... to all of us.

I really wanted one of these kits and maybe someday may get one.But I decieded to pass on the run and now am glad I did. I wish everyone the best and they may get the kits they ordered soon.

Still no reply? No word? no E mails? This really sucks guys, its awful to see things go this way.
Why do we read so many of these threads of late, folk not getting any comms at all and yet they have paid out a lot of money?
Disgraceful practice and downright rude IMO.
I really do hope you guys get something back soon, the actions, or lack of here are truly disgusting and enough to sicken anyone in the hobby.
Good luck fellas, sincerely!

I'm hoping that those of use who ordered buildups will get ours, too. ;)

As Yukon Cornelius used to say after licking his pickax, "... Nuthin."

I'm trying very hard to keep an open mind, mostly because it's so hard for me to believe that Wasili would leave us high and dry. It's just the sense I have of him based on our prior e-mail correspondence... which admittedly seems ages ago. :unsure

More recently I wrote him two e-mails about his failure to keep his promises and the damage this is causing to his reputation on the board. These were not attacks, but supportive messages, encouraging him to set things right. Again, based on my first, positive impressions of him (which might be mistaken), it seems to me that he would reply if he could. I can't completely discount the possibility that something has happened to him (hit by a bus?) and he's unable to respond. I'd feel awful if I called him out and then learned that he had been incapacitated.

On the other hand chances are fair to good that, in worrying about Wasili, I'm being made a fool of. :confused

I'm going to try writing to him directly one last time...

Sent another e-mail to Wasili just now... although I don't know why he would answer this one when he didn't answer the others.

I have a feeling I know what happened here. He probably got over his head, he had the master, it looks great and took orders before he had a kit to show. Then something happened during the molding or casting process and now he's stuck, the money is probably gone and he has no way to refund it. Pre ordering is a sticky business, and I get behind all the time so I know.

But as a kit producer I would never take a pre order until I had a kit out of the molds so I know I could deliver the product, it's just too risky for everyone involved.

So saying that, and if that is the case, maybe he should consider sending the master to someone that can get it molded and produce it?

I'd be excited to see that happen.

As I have ALWAYS said when I'm in this situation (which by the way, has been happening FAR too often lately - and I have stopped pre-ordering anything):

I'm more than happy and understand when I'm told "oh crap - there is going to be another delay because Uncle Salty dropped my resin in a mine shaft" or whatever the situation is. You know why? I have the truth, and I have the turth in an upfront manner. Look, crap happens. It happens to all of us. I can wait, because lord knows I have at least "two years" worth of other kits in my stash that I can preoccupy my time with.

But this cloak and dagger cryptic BS? And the radio silence? It makes me want to start a "Where's Wasili?" blog. It makes me want to make sarcastic Landspeeder-graphic sig banners. I feel a need to VENT and I feel a need to reach out to get my goddamn answers.

And yes, I get pissed off - like you would not believe. It's a hot button issue for me.

So you take $235 from me and get unforseen delays, and you TELL me? We're cool.

But if you take $235 from me and you jerk me around? We have a problem.

And I'm going to have to turn to sarcastic humor to make myself feel better:

It occurs to me that what these types of deals could really use in the future is some sort of escrow arrangement.

Guys,

Since my last post, i have encountered some legal complications of a coyrighted nature, with regards to this project that have to be solved first. Those that ordered a kit or built-up, can email me for further details.

Best,

Wasili

Hmmmm, could it be that since the Landspeeder was used in the future "5-25-77" movie that now it becomes property of said movie and thus can not be reproduced? Just a thought, but regardless, the silence is deafening.

Maybe? I still think it's BS - and he says he reworked the pattern to make it more accurate, which I think distances it from the film... and did he SIGN anything binding him to an exclusivity agreement? Did anyone else who donated their personal builds sign an exclusivity agreement? And honestly, if you called Howard Roffman on the phone and asked who the Landspeeder belonged to, he's gonna say "Lucasfilm".

Maybe Wasili got a C&D from Lucasfilm? If so, refund our money and we can all move on.

I agree Jason, the bottom line is, you got problems and can't produce the item then refund the deposits. It's clearcut.

Dave

yes I understand
I have the paypal reciept for this member but he hasnt done anything to rectify this trade I have with Dave to take my spot.
The least Wasili could do is let me out of this agreement since I have offered my spot to someone who has more patients than I and now he has two people hanging on this kit
what is with the communication problem?
