Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project.

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Now with pretty lights!

do you have to doall that or cn you just paint it and move on to making it light up and stuff.

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Now with wiring diagrams!

It would probably be wiser to finish, prime and paint before you jump into electronics. I say this from my current point of view because I'll now have to cover/mask off everything I don't want painted. There are pros and cons to any approach, but I was just excited to jump into electronics again :D.

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Now with wiring diagrams!

so paint first and then electronics. i hope i can make them as awesome as you do AerialInk. JUst go to order the set paint and start on the electronics.

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Now with wiring diagrams!

how did everybody cut down the bingo chips?

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Now with wiring diagrams!

I think Aerialink had the best suggestion of using Nail Clippers to cut the bulk out and finishing it off with some light sanding. :thumbsup

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Now with wiring diagrams!

call me crazy but is there a chance of getting the VENOM (changing midpoint) logo on one of these shooters ?

Fingernail file. No clipping. Cracked the plastic. Took forever but fun sitting on the couch watching True Blood suck some more.

Sorry it didn't work out for you. My initial method was using a coarse file, then fine(er) file and an exacto blade's edge to scrape the edge of the bingo chip clean. (if that make sense)

Using the exacto blade in this way is much like using a cabinet scraper, for those versed in woodworking tools. This way you can remove thin layers of plastic from the edge to give it a smooth, almost finished appearance.

Nothing will come close to a proper sanding and polish though. :)

Well I forgot that I first used a Xacto that you recommended to get the chunks out. Then I filed. For giggles I tried clippers but I had already finished. Either way thanks to you it's finished.

So I know nothing about lights. If seone was willing to make the mechanism, depending on price I might be interested it buying it from them.

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Now with wiring diagrams!

Me thinks instead of using fluid cartridge to activate the reed switch I will use the magnet that will attach the shooter to my suit. One magnet under my sleeve, the other the same size as the bottom of the shooter.
Thoughts?

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Now with wiring diagrams!

Has there been any discussion on why the shooters on costume seem to be blue in some shots:
Spider-Man’s Uncle Ben Was Right | Jason Nitzberg
Amazing Spider-Man Set Pics Eyes Web Shooters

And silver in others:

Spider-Man Reboot is ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’; Official Costume Image
Most of us seem to be going with blue...just curious as to why that is?
Thanks!

Member JMW121 supplied an awesome paint diagram that explained the color difference. Dunno if it's accurate or not but it makes perfect sense to me!

Yeah, I had seen that and that's why I decided to go with the blue... seems like a silver non-bezel version falls in there somewhere too. I like it, gives it a more "pronounced mechanical" aspect to the shooter rather than a more subtle blending in with the costume. Hmmmm... decisions decisions.

thanks :) it means a lot, i am pretty sure the designs are for the most part accurate, i think the silver shooters with the silver bezel are the ones he used when he was the vigilante spiderman but when he made the costume he made a second pair to match the suit, so it only made sense that the prop that is blue with the bezel would be used when he is not in costume (such as in the scene when he is with qwen stacy on the rooftop) but then the bezel could be removed then he was in costume (because when he went to the bridge he changed right into the costume) so thats my thinking on that , but at the end of the movie when the lizard breaks his shooters it seems he goes back to using the silver pair because in the game the amazing spiderman (which is a sequel to the movie) he has silver web shooters, so im not 100% sure but for the most part those paint designs seemed to be pretty accurate to the movie, but thats the great thing about this forum is that we can all be creative and have different perspectives of the same thing :) it adds diversity,

AerialInk, the body is not actually black, the band is a very dark dark brownish black but the watch body is actually chrome so in the diagram it is the first one,the band was dark and chrome is very reflective so thats why it appeared black,
