Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project.

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Even more 3D Print Goodness!!!

Can someone tell me the diameter of the center hole (in millimeters) where the red lens needs to rest, I don't have mine yet. I have a source for the lenses but I need the diameter and then we all can get great looking lenses at an affordable price. I'm trying my best to track down all the necessary parts for myself and to share, but a little help would be appreciated. Next is to get the exact gear assembly as in the movie.
Thanks in advance.

I'm measuring it at a 16mm opening. Anyone else care to double-check this?

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Even more 3D Print Goodness!!!

I'd say that's accurate. I measured 16.25mm with a digital caliper

Official dimensions from the model are:
Inner diameter= 16.1544 mm
Outer diameter= 16.9672 mm
Don't forget to account for a ± 0.15 mm variance in the printing process. Polishing can also take off up to .1mm surface detail.

Ok, so i went to go order my shooters, and i was able to put in my billing information, and as many times as i clicked to continue, it would not let me. I went through the process 6 times and nothing.
At this point I have to suggest contacting Shapeways directly for assistance. There is not much any of us can do that we haven't tried already. BTW, did you take care of that infection?

Hey, guys. I just went to the Toys R Us in NYC and Just wanted to post a few photos and things I noticed. If they've been discussed already, I apologize, but hopefully it'll help anyone who decides to make this version of the webshooters.

It looks like the inner blue/geared part of the left and right webshooters are basically the same, just rotated 180 degrees. There also seem to be 3, 6, and 9 icons on one, and 3, 9, 12 on the other from the watch body that are visible on these versions of the props.

I spoilered these images because they're huge.

So are you saying that if I get White Strong & Flexible Polished that it will be a larger opening than the model? If everyone orders the same material, will they all be the same in diameter? What about Frosted Ultra Detail, will it be even larger an opening? You got the shooter face in FUD didn't you? What is the measurement on that and do you recommend it for the Shooter face? Is there a more defined ledge for the lens to rest on? I wish they were faster in production, cause I can't wait to get em.

I ordered some lenses in different sizes to check it out and will post my findings when I get my shooters.

My Shooter arrives tomorrow!
Will anyone be selling Light Kits? :D

I'm saying maybe.

If everyone orders the same material, will they all be the same in diameter?
No, there will be slight variances in each model, hence the plus or minus .15mm tolerance that is inherent with the current state of technology.
What about Frosted Ultra Detail, will it be even larger an opening?
Frosted Ultra detail is showing a tolerance of ±0.025-0.05mm for every 25.4mm

You got the shooter face in FUD didn't you? What is the measurement on that and do you recommend it for the Shooter face?
Yes I did, and yes i do; though if you want to save cash and are willing to put in the work with surface prep WSF polished is just fine. My calipers show a .635mm opening with FUD and .639mm opening with WSF polished. Your mileage will vary.

Is there a more defined ledge for the lens to rest on? .
Whatever is currently on the model. You are free to make your own adjustments.

That's fantastic!

I just got my LED's in today and I'm excited to get working on it! I didn't realize how small these puppies are, time to bust out the multimeter!

i have no idea how to work w/ lights and such so would it be okay if i troubled you w/ asking you to post pictures of how you're doing it? xD btw great post, I love everything on it, I actually just ordered my parts a few moments ago. Won't ship til aug 16 (approx) but I'm still looking forward to it :pPP.

I was actually in the middle of making my own web shooters out of actual things I bought like batteries, a watch, and was researching on how to create led circuit boards and stuff. along w/ how to shoot something if I want them to function.. lol But this saves me a lot of trouble with the actual body part of it :) Thanks!.

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Even more 3D Print Goodness!!!

the chip may be right but i take it everyone knows this picture is not of the actual shooters he has its a computer image someone made?

No, they're the actual shooter designs from the movie itself. Here's a photo of the actual web shooter movie prop that they have in the NYC Toys R' Us, I believe? http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CIoiyCopzmY/T9lmf2_2cII/AAAAAAAACzs/0tMTT_2rz98/s1600/amazing-spider-man-props-9.jpg
