Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project.

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Even more 3D Print Goodness!!!

Gods I hope they dont look THAT bad.I used crazy glue

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Even more 3D Print Goodness!!!

I never said they looked bad, just curious on how you got the gears to stay in place.

No worries. The plastic is also very soft so if the gear had a point to it i just pushed it down with my thumb.

That clear coat looks like crap on a stick until it dries, sorry if I was being over-sensitive

I'm not quite sure yet. I was wondering if you'll be selling the acrylic discs at all? I'd like to mess around with those a bit!

Haha thanks. I was looking around Autozone and thought it was the perfect color! I was planning on using magnets too. I wouldn't feel too comfortable gluing the whole thing to the lycra.

Woah. Autozone sells spray paint?
Or is this is some fancy air brush paint for cars?
Either way. Im grabbing my car keys now.

Wow. Looks great. I love the gears inside, under the red. Nice touch.
Are they going to light? Or am I looking at a battery inside?
Most impressive. :thumbsup

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Even more 3D Print Goodness!!!

More gears inside the red. No lights for these. These are gonna be purely for my costume. Im gonna see if I can get a better camera. These pics dont do them justice at all

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Even more 3D Print Goodness!!!

Just received my package today! Yay! Still missing the fluid indicators though, as I didn't order them until quite awhile after the rest of the kit. I'd post pics but by now there's no point, everyone's already seen the raw pieces.

Epileptic squirrel, you really outdid yourself with these! They look excellent, and fit together great! I do agree with your assessment that the nozzle seems a little bit small though. When the watch bezel is on it really just looks like a dial for setting the time. I guess that's the point though. Regardless, these are fantastic!

Powerhouse, I'm digging those gears! Nice work! And the red plastic looks very good too!

So quick question, are you guys sanding these before you paint them? Epileptic squirrel mentions 'prep' work before painting, but these really seem so delicate I'd kinda be afraid to sand them.

And Taylor! :eek That paint is awesome! I'm definitely going to try to find that color.

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Even more 3D Print Goodness!!!

Oh and BTW, I'm definitely planning on using magnets to attach them. I'm thinking of using the very flat but wide circumference magnets, and like taping one to my wrist with electrical tape or something (like a tape-bracelet with the magnet underneath), so it will be practically invisible under the costume, then gluing another magnet inside the base of the shooter.

These all look great! I am having trouble uploading the files to shapeways, I have never done 3d printing before and I realy want these for comic con. Can someone please help me?

Unless you made changes to the models, you shouldn't need to upload any files. Just follow the links in the Junkyard thread and purchase the items that are already available. If you did modify the models, though... well then sorry I dont know. :confused

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Even more 3D Print Goodness!!!

I didnt make any changes. Its just that when i follow the links for each peace i am able to put them in my cart, but when i have them in my cart and i click on each piece it says that it is no longer available.

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Even more 3D Print Goodness!!!

Weird. But it looks like you are still able to order all the pieces needed so it's not that big of an issue.

My guess is it's a glitch with the shapeways website and the navigation algorithms. The links I posted in the JY are all private links. My guess is that the linking in the cart doesn't account for this and searches for the public links.

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Even more 3D Print Goodness!!!

Ok. Thank you, I have never ordered through shapeways before and was very curious about what this was happening. Even when i go under your items for sale it doesnt list them. But thank you ill try ordering them in the morning.

wow I really love how you've integrated that red film. I would've never thought of using that! Plus the way you placed the gears really made the shooters your own. Great job, I love seeing results like these!

As long as you don't try to snap them in half you should be fine. While it may seem smooth, there is a texture that really pops out when you apply your primer/paint. My suggestion would be to spray it with a filler primer; or if you're really ambitious you can use some glazing putty. I'd start with a 200-300 grit and work your way up. You can see where I've been sanding my shooters here:

The spots of grey are the filler primer. It's not all that difficult, just a little time consuming. :thumbsup

I just went through the motions and aside from inputting my paypal info it went fine for me.
Other people have had better luck after clearing their browser cache and restarting their browser.

I have a Mac. But I click on Safari on top right corner. Click on reset safari or clear cache. PC's will be very similar if not the same.
