Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project.

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Now with wiring diagrams!

i know this is a silly question but does anybod have any ideas on a web fluid formula???

It's been asked/brought up a few times now......

"While I can certainly appreciate your enthusiasm, let's concentrate on making an accurate replica for cheap. :)"

Enthusiasm is great, but realistically this is wandering off topic of this threads initial intentions:

"Long ago before I joined this board I've heard of tales where members would work together on group projects. Everyone would gather the same materials and build their props as a group; spanning the globe even! This idea fascinates me to no end and with the current state of technology, I believe we can take this to the next level." -epilepticsquirl

Remember, it's a Prop Replica.

A "prop" is short for movie property, and refers to any object used by actors or set decorators in a movie.

Let's keep the focus on making prop replicas and not theoretical discussion of things that probably won't go anywhere.

If your interested though, there are a few websites that you can see the discussion of this very topic in great detail, "real web-shooters/fluid", with a simple google search. :)

Thanks for the awesome reply Aerialink, exactly what I would've said! :lol

xl97: this evening ill be updating the 1st page and ill get you some dims as well. ;):thumbsup

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Now with wiring diagrams!

hi epilepticsquirl-

THANKS!!! I appreciate it! just kinda 'bugging me' to give this a shot..

(if all else fails.. maybe someone can modify the model a bit to accommodate a REAL working pcb)

anyways.. sorry if my post contributed to the 'derailing'.. Im really just trying to pitch in/be part of the community project.. not 'derail' :)

Along with the ID/OD' of the opening in the blue bezel piece.. & how much 'height/depth' clearance is there?

the bottom pieces.. what is the ID/OD there.. and how much 'height/depth' clearance is there?

Im thinking (hoping) the PCB can fit under the blue bezel piece.. with the CHIP & LEDS on top of the PCB only..

kinda taking on the same 'basic' shape as the blue bezel piece.. (like a key hole type shape)

bonus points for us if we can 'also' squeeze in an SD socket... -and- still have the coin cell battery in the bottom? (maybe a cutout/window in the bottom piece of kit?)

then I can probably make some code to do more than just blinkies on button push..

we can get the 'ffffffpppptttt,....ffffffpppptttt,.....ffffffpppptttt' sound too!

Anyways.. thanks! looking forward to some dimensions! :)

great job!!

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Now with wiring diagrams!

I want to pause and offer some serious "kudos" to Epileptic squirrel as well as BlueNyte for reaching out and pointing me in the direction that I wanted. Just received my first set from Shapeways today and I'm soooo impressed with the quality. Time to start assembly and fool little ones that I'm the real-deal...lol.

Thanks again guys! You have no idea how much this is appreciated!

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Now with wiring diagrams!

friendly bump... :)

still looking for some specs/dimensions.. ;)

Going to order my set next week sometime.. hoping to get some work in on a PCB before that.

thanks!

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Now with wiring diagrams!

Ok guys just found this thread a few days ago... Pretty late I know but I think I'm taking a slightly different approach than everyone else so here goes: First off I plan to make as much of it metal as possible so Im starting with a real watch that I found for about 20$ with a leather wrist band(pics coming soon) I also just bought the L&R faceplates in stainless steel(and plastic just in case lol) For the LEDs I bought a set of light up web shooters and gutted em they were only 10$ for two so I figured that would be a good investment consididering all the work is done. Next I decided that I wanted sound so I stripped a soundboard out of a similar toy that didnt light up once I get the products in hand I'll post more updates... Thanks for starting this Epilepticsquirl!

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Now with wiring diagrams!

first off I'd like to welcome all the new folks that have purchased web-shooters as of late! I noticed a couple of orders went through my shapeways account and can't wait to see what progress comes out of this great think tank.

Here is the useable real estate of the webshooters, all dimensions are in Imperial Inches.

Couple of notes:
View attachment 127515
You have a .058" ceiling from the base floor to the underside of the bezel.

View attachment 127514
The length of the post's are .025" and floor to edge is .114"

I'll be looking forward to seeing what kind of PCB's one might be able to integrate! That's one part of this project that I'd really like to see take off. :)

:cheers Cheers!

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Now with wiring diagrams!

thanks!

I'll give them a 'once over' today!..

Im hoping something can be done.. but this: "You have a .058" ceiling from the base floor to the underside of the bezel."

seems to be hurtful already!..

(maybe after some looking .. some minor changes can be made for those that want pcb's in them?)

either way to keep with the spirit of your thread..
If anyone wants to help with this (communication..sizes..etc.. I'll do all pcb work as much as possible)..

I'll post everything here, for free, open source..etc..etc..

if things do go well...

I'll be ordering/making myself a complete pcb/kit... so Im sure there will be some left over pcbs/parts..etc.. I could possibly re-flow/bake a few extras as completed kits too..

usually I get around 10pcbs.. for small test runs..etc.

so that will leave at least half left for those here..(or course one for ES too) ;)

thanks!

side note:

can I get some help on the dimensions? :)

My first approach is to try and fit in under the blue bezel portions.. (not sure if the height is going to hinder that or not in the end)...

but I need to know the dimensions for the HOLES/openings too..

the two colored circles here.. are the sizes Im looking for as well..

I think someone said the main opening where the bingo chip goes is 3/4" is this correct or not?

and under bingo chip hole/opening.. there is a little 'lip' (going to wher the legs/pegs extrude out)..

what is the OD of that circle/lip?

Im hoping I can make cuts in the pcb to accommodate to the poles/legs on the bottom.. and use that as a way to secure the pcb as well..

I think the bottom piece will need to be have a hole cut it in...(especially if we are trying to play audio).

anyways.. here is a visual for the size/dimensions Im after if anyone can provide

ASM_pcb_dimensions.jpg

also if anyone can guess/gauge the height form the bottom of the BASE to the TOP of the bezel 'opening' (ie: to the top..where the bingo chip would sit)

the pcb will sit flat on the bottom.. and the chip will be up/inside the opening a bit.. (making sure I have enough room/space)

thanks

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Now with wiring diagrams!

i bought some cheap lights form the dollar store and im just ganna take it aprt and put it in the webshooter...the light should turn red when its under a red transparence...i was ganna use a see through red bingo chip. (quite simple)

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Now with wiring diagrams!

If you could ship one to me, that would be great. Email me at samueltornabene@aol.com and i will get started. i have watch gears, copper wiring, spray paint, and LEDs. Yes red LEDs.

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Now with wiring diagrams!

Superspider I suggest you give this thread a read through and reread the FAQ to get yourself situated with the project. :thumbsup

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Now with wiring diagrams!

lol... (send me one too while you're at it) ;)

anyways..

I'd like to add to my request the spacing of the led slots/windows (and size)... so I can align the LEDS under it correctly.. :)

(still looking for those opening/holes ID's) :)

shooting for something like this in the end:

asm_pcbv1.jpg

with the rest of the needed components on the bottom.. (clean top except for the CHIP and leds)

side question:

I know the movie shooter has the top 'chip'.. have lines zig-zag form the chip pins?..

is this something we want to 'mimic' as well? (using silkscreen on the top off the chip pins?)

also like to get the room (depth) in the bottom piece? usually where the coin battery is seated?

Im hoping this can be done with little to no changes in the current pieces..

thanks!

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Now with wiring diagrams!

Out of curiosity what type of files can you import into that particular program? Might be easier if you could use dxf files or something similar.

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Now with wiring diagrams!

hmm...

I never looked into it.. Id say Im fairly new to Eagle (app I use to design the schematics and pcb layouts..etc)

but possibly?

update:

quyick search says ther are some tools/converters I can use/try... (worth a shot)

however I have 'zero' 3d exposure...

do I just take the files posted somewhere? (first post?).. or are those 3d source files for some app?

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Now with wiring diagrams!

I was thinking more the skeletal frame of the model; that way you have no scaling or measuring to do. The program should retain thr correct dimensions.

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Now with wiring diagrams!

Im not really sure what you mean?

what format are the files you posted in?

(Im not sure what app you model in?)

update:

I just downloaded the .zip..

bunch of .obj files.. and a .3dm (3D Studio Max?)

How would I get a .dxf file out of that to import into Eagle?

willing to try.. :)

I really wanna do some nice electronics for mine.. and contribute to the awesome part you already did.

(I enjoy this one over the metal shooter project as its open source/community project!).

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Now with wiring diagrams!

I modeled them in Rhino 3D. You can get a free trial good for 20 saves but it'd be easier in you if I just uploaded the wireframe by itself in the format if your choosing.

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Now with wiring diagrams!

thanks.

I'll take whatever I can get.. :)

.dxf says it can be 'converted'.. but how useful? not sure.. :)

with some holes cut int he bottom piece to accommodate for all this 'extra' internals.. I think we can get something..

once we know a PCB can/will work..we'll need to make a list of 'what' we want to do...

(features list) ;)

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Now with wiring diagrams!

Sounds good, ill get to extracting a wireframe.
In second thought it wouldn't be a bad idea if you downloaded the trial because then you'd be able to view the web shooters and get all the measurements you could ever need. It's easy enough to use. :):thumbsup
