Spider-Man: Homecoming

Re: New Spider-Man Movie in MCU (July 28, 2017)

I'd love a scene where he learns how to throw together a good costume by, well, looking at various prop and cosplay websites and getting some good tips.

Re: New Spider-Man Movie in MCU (July 28, 2017)

I think they just need to skip the origin, skip the homemade costume crap, and just bring him in and run with it. Doesn't matter if he is young or not, but I do not want to see some crappy home made looking costume. If I can believe he has powers and he made web shooters, I can believe he made a ultra cool costume.

Re: New Spider-Man Movie in MCU (July 28, 2017)

There won't even be a costume making montage I bet. I just think if they're going to make the costume look like it was made by someone sewing for the first time they should implement new and cool parts to it while still being the same style so we aren't stuck with a poor attempt at a comic costume.

Re: New Spider-Man Movie in MCU (July 28, 2017)

They said it's going to look homemade, but take a look around, homemade spidey suits on this board can kick some serious ass ! So frankly I'm not too worried. Less worried than people's reaction to a third spider man, it's gonna confuse a few regular movie goers for sure. And while I'm curious to see him in Marvel movies like Civil War and such, I'm really not that eager to see another solo movie, Marvel involved or not.

Re: New Spider-Man Movie in MCU (July 28, 2017)

You want homemade? go look at the 70's TV show! :lol

I think any home made suit would look exactly like that, maybe tighter fit but it'd be a sight! still be more "realistic" then have Stark give him the nicer duds.

Give me underarm webbing. Black that reflects blue in the light. And more organic webbing if they want to make it different from the rest but still look like Spider-man.

I cannot tell you tell how RIGHT this statement is. Just tell the story!

Re: New Spider-Man Movie in MCU (July 28, 2017)

Can someone please talk me out of this idea. I've devoted so much of my time to marvel and Spider-Man and just realised how little confidence I have in Marvel. I can tell they'll be commercially successful for a few more years and that I'll like their smaller scale movies if they aren't another Thor or Iron Man but Super Hero movies will die pretty soon and with all these complexities of universe and franchise building unless we encourage another reboot there'll never be a Spidey film as good as Raimi's 1 and 2 again. I mean... Avengers Age of Ultron was so bad... and it changes what every Future Marvel film will be like. The universe is too big now. Is me liking Ant-Man good enough of an excuse for me to like any Future Marvel Films? I remember liking what they're going to do with his stand alone films but I've grown sick of the idea of Spidey being an Avenger because I'm generally sick of the fact the idea of Cannon is still a thing. I don't want to associate anything I currently like with the likes of what I'm ashamed of (I'm really spontaneously hating Age of Ultron now). I find comfort in what I'm obsessed with and I'm finding myself disliking more and more of the more recent works of what I'm obsessed with. Someone please Pitch to me while having Spider-Man introduced in this crazy, complicated world where everything has to appear coherent but they keep changing all the rules is better than a good Reboot or a continuation of Tobey or Andrew.

I'm kinda with you on this. I'm worried about Spidey's future, too, and the more I think back on AoU, the less I like it.
I've decided to just stop caring so much. I'll always have Raimi's Spiderman 2, no matter what they do to movie Spidey in the future.
I do like the idea of a young Spidey, though, and I really want to see that on screen (though I'd rather have a TV series).

Re: New Spider-Man Movie in MCU (July 28, 2017)

Spiderman in the avengers does not hurt solo Spiderman films, those will still stand or fall on their own merits.

If you don't want to see spiderman in the avengers, you can always just not see the film, or shut your eyes for the ten minutes he will probably be in there.

Re: New Spider-Man Movie in MCU (July 28, 2017)

It's more like Spideys the only thing I want to see in an Avengers Film. I really feel Marvel is sacrificing it's quality by being more true to the comics. The comic implements of Spider-Man that Marvel Studios is using seem very worthwhile but things like the vision and now even infinity war seem too far for me. I don't even like Thor really. Marvel needs to learn to keep some franchises mostly separate and just imply they both exist in the same universe.
Marvel needs to write down a series of rules about how far Super Power's, technology and the cosmos can go. They need to start thinking about what'd make sense or would be original rather than just create additional excuses for action sequences to films. Civil War I would allow to have villains had they not had such a bad track record with them. I know there are a lot of beloved villains but out of the big ones, I never liked Loki, something put me off about Ronan and Ultron was so inconsistent without being deliberate. It'd be a real shame to do that to Spidey's villains.
I want a live action Spidey TV show just a little bit less than I want a movie. It'd work if I could have both. I'd rather a Spectacular Spider-Man Season 3 than a chance at Spidey being ruined however. I'm too defensive of what I like because at this moment it's all that defines me.

Instead of the idea that Super-Hero TV-Shows have to be dark dramas, could marvel ever make a Sitcom.

Re: New Spider-Man Movie in MCU (July 28, 2017)

I'm generally curious about the tone Marvel wants to go with their films in general. I think it was a John Hughes Vibe for the films that was said but are Marvel Studio's trying to make their properties darker. I hope it will stay light hearted in every event mostly and even when it is expected to be dark they are generally light films. Do the films blend together well enough nowadays and will Spider-Man change the dynamics? I'd really like to see something even more of a comedy than any of the mainly comedic Marvel films. That's why I'd really like the next Super-Hero film to be a new kind of more realistic Sitcom.

Spider-Man Reboot Director on ‘Ultimate’ Comic Inspiration – Will Mary Jane Appear?

So an article was just released a few days ago detailing Jon Watt (new spider-man director) and his plans for the reboot starring Tom Holland. What do you guys think? Personally, when I read the Spider-Man loves Mary Jane series, I didn't really know how I felt about it. But if the director seems to want to incorporate it, I can only be optimistic that it will still be a good movie. Here's what he had to say:

"We’ve heard online that you’re going to bring Peter back to high school, and that we should to expect a John Hughes-y sort of vibe –
Jon Watts: Yeah!
Have you been looking at any comics in particular to help shape that? Because, when I heard that, Ultimate Spider-Man was the first thing that sprung to mind…
JW: Oh, I love that. Ultimate is great. I love Ultimate. We have the freedom to pull from anything, but I really like what [Brian Michael] Bendis did. A lot. That felt like… that was Peter Parker back in high school. And, spending as much time with his high school problems as it did with his superhero problems, which I think is really a lot of fun.
There’s also some really funny comics stuff, like, the Archies. I don’t know if you’ve ever seen the Spider-Man Loves Mary-Jane series, but they have this really great anime-style illustration, and it’s all just about Peter Parker’s relationships. It’s like the soap opera of Peter Parker in high school. Those are really funny, too.
I’m just sitting around reading comic books all day – it’s a pretty great job."

Hey buddy, I think this would be better placed in the Entertainment and Movie Talks part of the forum. ;) But, while I'm here, I think she will eventually, maybe even right off the bat since crowds just had Gwen Stacy in the TASM franchise.

‘Spider-Man,’ ‘Jumanji’ Release Dates Set | Variety

" Sony has set new release dates for its upcoming reboots of “Spider-Man” and “Jumanji.”

The studio has moved up the release of “Spider-Man” from July 28, 2017 to July 7, 2017. The live-action movie — a collaboration with Marvel — stars Tom Holland and will be directed by Jon Watts.

“Jumanji” will be pushed back from Christmas Day 2016 into the now open weekend of July 28, 2017 - previously occupied by the superhero tentpole. "

I know what they are trying to do with the Logo and such but...ew. No ta.

Am sure the film will be excellent and I know it's aimed a bit of a younger audience now, with a very young Spidey. So the Homecoming title is...ok. Works I suppose.

Can't wait for the first trailer!

Yeah.... Something is very lacking in that logo, but i'm just glad Spidey is finally in the MCU and trumps the logo design regardless.
