SPACE PARANOIDS- Original TRON- Working arcade version?

i just played space paranoids online.
that is the coolest thing...EVER.
this project HAS to get done... i want one of these in my prop room so bad its not even funny!!

I did post this up over on KLOV but nothing really
and was posted about a year ago that also never materialzied.
Flynn's - Pics and more pics - IAM/KLOV Coin-op Videogame, Pinball, Slot Machine, and EM Machine Forums

it could have just been a complete prop build
the control panel is more like space invaders just buttons for controls.
and very few cabs had less height than the people surrounding it
Dominos and Tank II look like the closest canidates but probably wouldnt work the best for a current build
which is proably why they changed it for comic con-IMO

Are there any leads on someone doing repro cabinet art, marquee, controller art?

Thinking of picking up a cabinet at Superauctions in Orlando at the end of the month. Thinking of either wiring it up for MAME or JAMMA or possibly both, going to have to research to see if its possible to do a MAME/JAMMA setup with a switch control. Hopefully find some sort of fighting game with the 1 joystick/6 button setup for each player.

Sorry.

My Computer got some kind of virus and I have been out of the game for a week:angry but I managed to save most of stuff importantly all of my arcade vector art and TRON stuff.

Thanks for those great close up pics from Comic Con.
That will really help.

I don't see any reason why both Cabinet styles could not be reproduced I kinda like the smaller one considering I live in a two bedroom apartment with 6 machines in it already.

can any one find out what the dimensions are on that Domino Cab or direct me to some place to find out. Even if that's not the one it may be close enough.

Most of all the basic dimensions can be found on the arcade game flyers

Slight veer here, sorry. I got a quote of $329.00 - $499.00 for one of these to be made. It wouldn't be that large though.

I'm sorry, for some reason the image didn't show up. I was referring to this neon sign:

Still not much movement on this. Modellers welcome. Toyed around today with another Encom title showing my girlfriend's son how to vector model. Still rough but kind of cool.

Still looking for any assist on Space Paranoids.

Well really 3d models. I have never been able to get the Recognizer movie accurate. I may try again but was hoping for some very basic stuff. The recognizers and the building blocks for the maze. Old school .3ds or .x.

I purchased a 3d model that will looks ideal for the recognizer. It is in Max but the texture mapping seems dead on to the movie. Can anyone convert it for me to .3ds or .x? I will tackle the environment best I can to get a visual mock up. Again, if any modellers are out there and don't mind helping, I think this can come together as FREEWARE (as did STARFIGHTER with the help of modellers/artists/musicians/RPFers). I would only need statics for the environment and the recognizers (whole and segmented pieces for the explosion). No need for animation. I would handle that with the code.

People have mentioned the online version on the thread. It rocks but it is not really movie accurate. What I am proposing would be more like the one in the film.

While waiting for a little assist, I have done a bunch on Astrogunner. Might be fun to write some very simple games for the rest Dillinger pilferred if anyone contemplates a multicab.

BUMPADIBUMPBUMP kind of.

Soooo, found a recognizer which fits the bill.

That's it above rendered via the compiler. Still need the environment. I have done a hundred or so caps from the DVD. This includes a few caps from the DVD menus which actually had a 3d SP maze for the menu switching and good views of the overhead architecture. It also includes caps of the raw footage (out of the cabinet) from the Design documentary in the film.

All are located at:

So, can anyone help me with the architectural components? The walls/floor? I have tried before but had great difficulty texturing the accents on the edges. Would be willing to pay for the models.

Doc

So here are some quick and dirty renders for the walls. Don't mind the coloring, it's just a quick paint job to verify that I could do it. Turns out I can :thumbsup

Lemme know what you think.

cool, glad you approve.

What color palette do you want them in? If you got a paint program like photoshop or something, just give me the RGB values of what color you want the walls and the scribe lines.

I'll have to send this over to you so you can verify that you are able to import it correctly.

Quick question, on that recognizer you have, is that a texture map applied or is it the result of your compiler? PM me your e-mail and i'll send a sample your way.

If you compare the screen shots above, to the Domino cabinet AND the cabaret Space Invaders, the SI Is quite a bit different. Good suggestion though!
