Gone but not forgotten.
Ok, I saw this a LONG time ago and not certain
WHERE I saw it or more importantly WHEN
it's supposed to be out ???

It was the STUN GUN and COMMLOCK being sold
as a pair and built up! Does anyone remember that
or actually HAVE that set yet ?

I didn't remember too much about it as it was months
ago I read about it.. :cry

Anyone have this yet ???

:love

Yup, THAT'S IT ! THANKS... :thumbsup

Have to say, it's not " that " bad of
a price all things considered. Even comes
with a case to display them in... I may just
pull the trigger on it...

:love

I have a CY commlock myself. Yes it looks dark, and yes it's a little rough. But it looks more like the actual prop. Most other replicas are idealized.

As with most TV props, the commlocks had a "hero" version (with working TV screen) used for closeups, some "hi quality" midgrade props that had plastic and metal chips for buttons (but no working screen), and lastly some knockaround dummy props that just had stickers for buttons and were really rough. The CY is like one of those run of the mill props, not super pretty, but what it would have looked like.

My point is, there is no touching the Product Enterprise set for the money. I took issue with the post suggesting one could save themselves 100 dollars by purchasing from CY.

As though that's some sort of deal compared to this set; they're not even in the same ball park.

Machined parts, stands and a case and certificate signed by Gerry...C'mon. Good stuff!

Have to agree with Rylo, they are mighty pretty. But the price is still beyond my wallet. I have an AIM Models stun gun kit that I've been needing to finish for years now. Aluminum nozzles and a working trigger along with a season 1 stun/kill switch. Someday.

Rylo, I still have one of your aluminum phaser 2 handles that will someday be incorporated into my Masterpiece Models phaser kit. Awesome work BTW!!

Those AIM kits finish up great! I've built dozens of them over the years.

Cheers!

Love that Laser. No middle ground. STUN/KILL.

I have mine set on KI/UN. They get a 50/50 chance. :lol

As to the "CY sucks/Iconic Replicas Rocks" split that seems to be happening, it all goes back to the "subtlety of screenused" vs "slickness of mass produced".

Some folks find MR stuff too idealized. Or to cite a more relevant example, the Product Enterprise 23" Eagle replica. Looks good at first... but the more you study it, the less accurate it is. :unsure

On these, I'm spotting right away that the font on the KILL/STUN label is wrong (looks like they used Helvetica, the props used Futura Bold)

Also the colors on the four buttons on the replica's grip appear to be wrong (bottom should be blue instead of purple). Also the props usually have the same four colors painted insie the emitter barrels.

The pattern of buttons on the commlock varied from prop to prop but I don't know of any that have two horizontal black rectangles on the lower section like this replica has. Also the replica uses what could be Eurostile for the button font, when the corrrect one in this case is Eurostile Bold Extended. The rectangular white and orange buttons on the top segment are usually translucent plastic on the prop (in the replica they are opaque).

The sunshade on the replica's viewscreen seems too short and too black (the prop had a high, gray shield). Also the side opposite the ID card lacks the long red button and shouldn't have the two circle decals on the upper segment.

Not to mention the Iconic is supposed to be a 2nd season comlock, but Koenig's wearing the 1st season uniform.
Also, there should be a gap between the trigger button and the selector on the stun gun. I know I'm nit-picking, but hey I like things to be correct.

The Iconic site claims that "while they themselves prefer the first season" :lol the replicas are second season
"because they appeared better that way" or some such.

It's really too bad, since I prefer the first-season laser with no top switch anyway... and the test pattern screen on the commlock is a pain. :unsure

Actually the KILL/STUN switch DID appear in the final episodes of the first season... first there was this design in "Full Circle"

That prop was the one shown smokin' in the second season's "The Metamorph"

The IR site also notes that the emitter barrels will be "chromed", which is wrong for either season. :unsure

I fashioned a seson 1 stun/kill in my replica just to be different. Also, yeah I know it's incorrect, but those shiny nozzles really look sweet. Mine are aluminum.
