Space 1999 Spectro X scanner

I have made a replica of the scanner that Bergman uses in the season 1 episode 'Earthbound '. Like the original, it is made from a vintage Braun hairdryer.

Nice work! That Space: 1999 aesthetic is immediately recognizable. I remember being pretty bummed when they didn't bring Bergman back for season 2.

I just noticed that the Sixteen12 Bergman figure actually comes with a miniature spectro x scanner. Unfortunately that hair dryer handle is way too thick to fit in his tiny hand. At least he can wave his stun gun around.

Neat. That's quite good for a prop that (as far as I know), only crops up once.

This is on my endless list of 'to do' items. I have the source hairdryer (in orange!). How did you do the glass tube thingy?

I got a 3cm diameter perspex tube. I bolted a black bottle lid to the (removable) hairdryer grille. The tube fitted perfectly into the lid. I then made the innards from scraps, glued it in, then put a washer over the end. I added silver tape for detail.
