Space 1999 Eagle Transporter Build Club (PIC HEAVY!)

I have to say, F3n that it is totally cool but at the same time really weird to see elements that i have personally designed, being incorporated into someone else's build...
Your renderings are beautiful and I can't wait to see your actual build..
My brother, who is an electronics whizz kid, is coming around in a while to help me with the lighting and to help me understand things a little more: what I can and cannot do and how to do it. I am hoping that this will allow me to have a cool update soon so that we can save this thread from slipping into obscurity...:unsure

He did a rain check......I am disappointed.......life sucks..
But hey! I started this build on my own and if needs be, I will finish it on my own....:unsure

It could be worse re: your brother. If it were one of my family, they simply wouldn't have showed up at all. :unsure

I guarantee you won't be finishing up here all by your lonesome. I'm getting some progress here soon to be chronicled. Maybe the winter blues are slowing everyone down? :confused

Sorry mate, that was supposed to read: 'build' not 'thread'

Must have been a Freudian Slip.....:lol

I was just referring to my brother not coming round, not the thread itself...

I got a hunch. Something wonderful is coming soon.

Oh, if you got the fibers in a reel, watch out for getting entangled.
When I got a reel of 200 meter long of 0.25 fiber before, I completely messed them and wasted it. It took long time for me to find a good way to handle it.
I don't want to see anybody suffering that.

Can't wait for the next post!!

Speaking of that, would it be best to use a spool of some type to keep the fiber optic line straight?

Once I tried to use the spool but I failed to rewind the fiber from reel to spool. It was entangled.
The best way I've ever known is to fasten the reel of the fiber at the three point. It's very difficult for me to explain with my poor English though. try to fasten the reel with a loose wire at the point of the clock code of 12, 4 and 8 o'clock point. When you use it, pull the one end a bit, so that the one line of fiber appears inside of the reel. Pick it and withdraw from the fastening wire one by one.

I you don't understand, I will send some pics for you when I get home.

Regards, katsu

Okay, I finally managed to get back online! I managed to make a start on the lighting for the cockpit interior. I have done quite a bit more than the photo suggests, but I thought that some of you might be interested to see the lights I am using. These are waterproof and have an adhesive strip on the back. Each block of three has a built in resistor, so you can wire them directly to a 12v supply in mutiples of three. My brother then rain checked his visit, so I have had to put the cockpit on hold (again!) until he can find the time to pop around and give me some help and advice.

No matter! I have finally revisited the Passenger pod and have been pushing that along instead. I have now made the other sliding door for the rear end of the pod and have painted and numbered them both. This meant that I could then get on with detailing the interior end walls, which I have also now completed.

The seating will go in the area to the right and the computer banks with table and chair will go on the left. That's why the tramlines to the left of the door are not finished. They will be hidden by the computer banks.
DISCLAIMER: the wall is not glued into place in these photos, so that is why the door is not straight. It came slightly off of its runner...that is no longer an issue now that the wall is permanently glued in place.

Likewise, the unpainted walls either side of the door, in the photo below, will be hidden by the EVA suit racks.

I know this is a little update but I will be moving this along more rapidly now. I hope to get the interior knocked into better shape in the coming week. Thanks, as always, for looking in and more soon! :)

Awesome, Darren! :)
That passenger pod on the final picture looks HUGE! But then I got to thinking, that it is huge, at least compared to mine!

About that last picture, I'm curious about the recessed floor section in the photo to our (point of view) lower left corner. What's the plan there?

That is the seating area, Bob. If you get a chance to have a quick look at The Full Circle or, Testament Of Arkadia, that should afford you a better idea of how the seating is set into the floor.

I was wondering if I needed to do that. You see, that area is the next thing I'm examining for my build, so thanks for the unintentional heads-up on what to watch out for! :cool

No worries. Here are a couple of shots that kind of show it but the best episode is The Full Circle when they discover the dead caveman in the abandoned eagle...

Ah, yes...now that I see it, I know what you mean.
I've been fully focusing on the walls, so I didn't think to look down! :)

Talking of which, i am not looking forward to building the interior side walls of the pod. They slope out as they go up...then, they curve over at the top to meet the ceiling. That's going to be a pig of a job..:unsure

At least I will only have one quarter to do.

:lol
I am noticing more and more chrome strips, too. Edging strips on steps and joining sections together...
Are you sure that you really want to do the passenger pod with seating on both sides of the door, like the one that Koenig arrived at Alpha moonbase in, in Breakaway?

That's a lot of seating to construct and you haven't done your pilots seats yet....:eek

I managed to get a pic from The Full Circle this shows the floor levels a little more clearly. Sorry if the picture is too big..
