Re: Space 1999 Eagle Transporter Build Club UPDATED NOV 3RD (PIC HEAVY!)
Wow..so much to respond to! :wacko All right...in order:
Atlanthia: I sure hope it does come sometime soon! I was hoping in time for your b-day...but there's always next year! :lol I'm beginning to think it was delivered via hot air balloon!
barrie: It's funny how we all turned to plastic glassware for our bells. One thing is certain, for the rest of my life I'll always see plastic glasses as potential Eagle bells! Great work, btw!
F3n: That's one of the beautiful things about the Eagles, there's so much room for extrapolation! Very thoughtful research on your part. Now, if you solve the mystery of the docking tube, rank yourself up there with Einstein and Hawking! :confused
Eyes Only: Thanks for popping in! Feel free to add any feedback you think of. Nothing here is set in stone, and input often seems to yield results!
Now, an update!
Between the hastily assembled "lathe" and barely adequate tools, it's amazing I was able to pull this off! I'm sparing you pictures of the process, it was pretty much like the last update or two! The final results pretty much speak for themselves. I tweaked the design a bit since the last update...

I'm about 80 percent happy with these. Maybe when they are finally painted silver and are attached to the rest of the engine assembly I'll be happier. It was pretty frustrating work...I'm just glad this ship doesn't have like 16 engines! :confused
One thing I did like was engraving that edge line on the inside of the bells. That little touch of detail seems to add a lot...

I spared you the dull lathing pictures, but here's the remnants of the bells which was carved away...

I realized that I needed more fishing floats. I can use them to form the ends of the "magnetic bottles" or whatever they call them behind the engines. These 1 3/4 inch size are perfectly sized for the job. They must think I'm really into fishing in the sporting goods department!
