Tried to give Ray some more Rep, but I need to pass out some more before I can rep him again. That is a very nice looking build. I hope Ray will do up a tutorial.

Hey guys here is the molding of the shoulder pod I did last night with a hydrocal shell to help keep its shape alot of you guys have been asking about a tutorial the best I can do is explain the process and documment it with photos it would be hard to mix silicones and stuff and film a video unless I get a tripod for my camera. Well anyways I took the pattern of the pod I made and did a quick one layer brush on silicone with Rebound 25 one good layer with a turtle shell was good enough I will make two for the left and right sides that have to have panel details and stuff added to them. Today I will work on the bottom part of the pad that has the recessed area that the landing gear goes in once that is made I will mold it like the upper half, here some pics. The last photo shows the original pattern, the resin copy, the mold and the mold shell.

Ray has a secret time-inhibitor in his work area; he can step in & work for two weeks, and when he comes out only a day of OUR time has passed.

:lol :lol :lol

Awesome work! :eek
So is the shoulder pod casting solid, or did you do some kind of rotary casting thingy? :wacko

Awesome work as usual Ray :thumbsup I have two questions.
1. Did you make the "turtle shell" out of Plaster of Paris?
2. Where can we get one of these time-inhibitors Chrisisall mentioned? :lol

Hey Darren the shoulder pod casting is solid so that way it would be sturdy to run the landing gear tube through it, and Randy it's not plaster of paris it's Ultracal 30 or what some people call Hydrocal it's like a stone cement basically like concrete.

I need a watch to!

Small progress here. I've started asembling the card buck. In total 4 pieces are glued together! Woohoo!

I'll post pics when It's more of an item to view.

Small weekend update guys kind of under the weather :sick but the show must go on! Lol. Got the shoulder pods casted need to make the foot pad and mold it now.

Looking great, Ray! :)

Jeez, you must spend a fortune on modding and casting materials!

I have decided to completely scrap my Command Module and start from scratch. I am just not happy with it so I will be using a method that is very similar to Bob's build, so it should yield much finer results all round. I will hopefully be able to post something tomorrow.

Thanks Darren actually the silicone was left over from molding my Batmobile. I said I better use it up before it goes bad the stuff does have a shelf life and gets stiff after awhile.

Bit of a setback here. It became apparent that I hadn't reduced the formers for the skin thickness of the P38. Also the quadrants hadn't been adjusted similarly to allow for the skin thickness.

So currently redrawing the formers and, with the current experiance, also the construction method. Everything will slot together, eggbox contruction? To make it easier to keep everything aligned and reduce the quantity of parts.

I'm just playing with some knife blades which stuck together will cut the slots in one go. That's the current theory.

F3n, I've sent you an email. It should help solve the whole issue for you. Let me know if you got it and whether it's any use. I am DEFINITELY using this to redo my CM..

It will be a few more, more weekends Darren Lol, and Schawrz remember the Steve Miller band? Fly like an Eagle, got to fly like an Eagle :lol

That's not a bad idea, Ray: maybe I should be playing that song to motivate me to ignore my toothache and get my build-butt in gear! :)

(and of course I remember the Steve Miller Band, I'm old, remember? :lol )
