Re: Space 1999 Eagle Transporter Build Club UPDATE 15/03 (PIC HEAVY!)
Hi, Everyone! Sorry I haven't posted for a couple of days. I've not been well at all, but it hasn't stopped me working completely!
Okay, I have made some progress on the outer shell of the CM. It is now smooth and even enough that I have been able to start the shuttering. By tacking on thin strips of 1mm card where the panel gaps will be, I will then be able to spread bondo over the entire shell to that same depth. When it is dry, I can sand it out, and then remove the strips of card to reveal the panel detailing.
while the glue was drying on the shell, I had a play with some dowel and some aluminium tubing...
The dowel needed a light sanding to allow the aluminium tubing to slide on. They are a really good snug fit and I will fix each one in place with fibreglass resin.
I also managed to make some progress on the front console. I drew out the positions for all the buttons, and then cut and glued card onto each button.
They have all now been painted exactly as per the screen used console in series one. I neglected to take a photo of the finished console before installing it into the cockpit :facepalm but I will do so tomorrow and post it in the next update.
The console has 2 TV screens built into it that the pilots use for video communication. These, I have replicated by cutting out the holes, gluing a piece of clear plastic to the back of the console to simulate the glass TV screens and then gluing a simulation of the Eagle 1 Screen Saver to the back of the 'glass'. This next pic is not a great photo but it gives an idea at least.
Then, I had REAL play time and to see the results, click on the picture directly below:

There is a little 'bleeding' but that is easily rectifiable when the finishing/painting is done.
Well that is about all I have managed to do for now but I feel I am heading in the right direction

I hope you enjoyed this update as much as I did, and I thank you all again for looking in. Any comments are welcome!
