Thanks for all the kind words.
Although not a walk in the park, and it was quite expensive, it is a just a molding and fiberglass lay up job. Did I mention I hate fiberglass, especially when it goes through a nine inch hole.
The real beauty is the shape of this thing, whoever made it. And it is unquestionably from an original source.

I checked my files and right now this is the only other shot I have. I do have the disc somewhere tho, so if I find it I might try to take some screengrabs.
OK here are the best frames I could find in the film... first the big finale, when Balaban is escaping back to Leonov while the Discovery is boosting away from Jupiter.

And... oh yeah, they did also make another 2001 style suit for 2010... the empty BLUE one in the pod bay. Missing its helmet though for some reason...

The buckles are extremely hard to come by and their history is unknown..To see them in another movie besides the rocketeer is fascinating..maybe there is a connection, or maybe there isnt..

OMG....I had forgotten all about that. Why did I never put 2 + 2 together when I first saw that. Wow...thanks for the flashback and realization. Now all I hear is Zathras in my head...:lol

This mag has been identified as being a PARIS MATCH issue dated 2001 with a cover especially designed for the film.
PARIS MATCH is the french LIFE. It's one of the most popular news mags in France, a real institution here.

Holy crap! This is a fantastic shot of the right side of the space suit! In the movie and all over the net you cant find anything but left side and straight on shots! It's ridiculous. Thank you for this image. I can now complete my chest pack.
